Summer Covid Wedding-social distancing regulations...

Sarah, on June 16, 2020 at 4:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
So I got word (and shared last week) that my venue has given me the green light on our postponed wedding 8/2. We are beyond excited. Many people asked about what regulations we’d have and at the time we didn’t know.

But i just got word from our venue on our social distancing..
-tables will have to be 6ft apart-the venue will have to serve food rather than have it buffet style.
Other than that, we just have to be “mindful of social distancing”. Masks not required, dancing allowed! We know some guests will not be able to attend due to covid concerns and we will miss them (plan to live stream for them) but are excited about finding the joy in wedding planning again!
For reference, I am in Maryland.

Wow congrats! that's actually pretty big that they allowed dancing.

however, i would still be mindful of other things like on your guest book table having some hand sanitizer available for guests

We plan to have masks available for guests and hand sanitizer around. We are also doing a photo booth guest book. So people will just have to sign their name and slide into a book. I went to a nail salon recently that had 2 mason jars with “I’m clean” pens and “I’m dirty” pens. We may steal that idea for signing.

This is so hopeful. I’m in MD but wedding of under 50 (planned pre-Covid) in DC. I just want to be able to dance and the thought of not having my ceremony and dancing and fun in September has made me really stressed.

I am in rural southern Maryland where Covid hasn’t been as bad but still positive for us in this area! I imagine under 50 you should be ok.

That’s great news! Mandatory masks are my only big concern about my wedding in August. My venue still won’t respond if our wedding is on and/or if there are restrictions. So it’s good to hear your restrictions aren’t that much. We have 200 people invited so it may be hard for our room to distance tables that much since that is the capacity of the room. But thanks for updating us! Dancing is also key so that’s awesome.

We are at about 110 though we invited 200. Lots of travelers that can no longer attend. Our venue told us over the allotted 50% we could set up outdoor seating on their patio. So maybe that’s an option for you?

Oh that’s nice of them. That makes sense, a decent amount of people can’t attend in normal circumstances. Unfortunately, our venue does not have a patio we could use. The entire reception space is completely indoors. Our ceremony is outside. A max of 150 can fit seated and that is literally stuffed like sardines. I’m sure they don’t have the answers to these issues yet which is why they aren’t responding. But I am excited you’ll get you’re special day!
