I already paid for the trial, so I'm out that money and because I'm getting married in the peak/prime wedding month in Scottsdale, most of the top hair & make up artists are already booked.

Feeling a bit bummed out especially now that I'll have to shell out more cash for another trial that I might or might not like.

Sorry. Just venting.

I am not going to ask for the money back. The trial fee was in addition to the bridal package charge and not a fee that would be deducted for the overall costs for the wedding day. She did tell me that she was engaged when she did my trial but she specifically said that my wedding would be the last one that she did before she had her wedding. The two other MUAs that I contacted last night are already booked for my wedding day. I'm sure I'll find someone but you all know how it is when you don't get what you want.. or even your 2nd, 3rd or 4th choices..

Ugh, I feel for you. If I were her, I'd offer your trial money back but I do honestly see why she didn't. You did get a service rendered and she did use her very expensive makeup. Makeup kit stocking and upkeep is not cheap.

I really do hope you find someone. Good luck!!!

I think it would be totally reasonable to ask for the trial money back. And you have plenty of time to look for a new person! (I haven't even started looking...eek). Sorry you have to deal with this and good luck!

Hair and makeup is one thing I'm not spending a ton of money on. I've already spent 15 years doing my own hair and makeup, why would I pay someone to do it for me? I'm sorry that happened, but have you considered just doing it yourself?

Hi Brittany, I actually do a pretty good job on my hair but I'm having extensions put in for the wedding day. My fiance is also a hairstylist and a lot of our guests will be co workers of his who are in the industry, so the pressure is on to have everything looking good. As far as the makeup, I do a decent job on my makeup as well but I could see what a huge difference having a professional application made on the day of my trial. I definitely got the "wow" factor I was looking for. I don't think a few hundred dollars is too much of an expense, especially since we are having professional photos done. I'd like to look back at our pictures and not regret that I didn't have my hair and makeup done by someone with more skills than me Smiley smile

I would definitely try to get the money back from the trial! And you could also try one of the schools in AZ and see if you like anyone there as well as an option, and it would be pretty cheap as well.

Hair and makeup were super important to me. I understand wanting to look fabulous. That being said, my trial was $150...completely separate from the wedding day. I feel like a professional that canceled on you should at the very least offer a partial refund or a credit for a later date.
