Stress&anxiety about wedding planning

Kelly, on September 7, 2022 at 11:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Anyone else feel or get stressed/anxious with wedding planning? I feel like I'm maybe not enjoying it as much as I wish I was or how other people appear to enjoy it. Just wanting to know I don't feel alone in feeling this way. How do you deal with the stress/anxiety?

I think we all do to some extent. While wedding planning we bought land, sold our old house, moved in with my parents, started building the new house, and then took a trip to Colorado the week before the wedding. I definitely felt stressed out, but there's only so much you can do at a time. My advice is to do what you can and get to the rest as you are able. There were times when I wondered why we were packing so much stuff into this one year, but it's all worth it in the end. I honestly just took it one day at a time, sure I thought about the monstrous list of to-dos, but things seem to fall into place as they're meant to. Taking time to myself really helped with the stress, maybe pick a random day once in a while and just do nothing, I know it's hard when there's so much to do, but if you can give yourself that break, it helps so much!

I think we all have our moments of stress and anxiety around wedding planning. It's a major life event, there's a ton of moving parts, and lots of different people and personalities are added into the mix. It can help to have days reserved to just chill and not do anything wedding related from time to time. As far as the actual planning, try to just take it one step at a time. Whenever I try to think of ALL the things that have to happen, it can get overwhelming really fast, but if I just focus on completing one thing, it's way more manageable.

Yes ! Our wedding is next Saturday and holy CRAP I’m so nervous… But honestly I’m excited to get it over with… I haven’t been sleeping well because I’m anxious and everyday I remember something we still need … Ugh I wish we stuck to a small wedding. Although our guest list is 97 people I still feel like that’s a lot 😳😂

I will say my big "joke" (that's not so much a joke) has been that I'm "still waiting for that bride-to-be glow!!" because I have not enjoyed the process of planning this wedding hardly at all haha! And the closer the big day gets, the less I am enjoying!! I'm just trying to stay positive and make sure I have fun on the day because at that point, there's nothing to stress about. Everything that will be... will be!!

Exactly. I started feeling a little down because I'm like... aren't I supposed to be enjoying this a little more and all I'm doing is stressing. But I've started to designate days that I don't think about or do anything wedding related and that has seemed to helped some.
