Storing Alcohol Before Wedding

Cassie, on August 4, 2017 at 7:09 PM Posted in Planning 1 11

For folks that provided their own alcohol for their wedding, how did you go about storing all those bottles? I decided on 40 bottles of champagne and 35 bottles of white wine and now I'm like, how the heck am I going to store these bottles in my apartment? My friend has a garage I can keep them in so I'm probably going to that, but the main question is what are the best boxes to store wine bottles that doesn't cost much (or even better, free? lol)

Thanks!

Are you buying individual bottles, or can you buy some cases? If you buy cases they will already be in their contained box.

If you buy individually, at places like Bevmo (if you have one near you) they ring you up and put them in boxes for you so you don't have 30 wine bottles rolling around the truck of your car.

ETA: I'd say the only important thing about WHERE you store them is that you would want the place to be temperature controlled, and in an area where they aren't going to get bumped into or knocked around too much.

If they get overheated, they will spoil.

Yes, they will be in a controlled environment, her garage doesn't get warm and no one really goes in there, it is just for storage. I am getting them from stores like Safeway, etc. They put it in a wine carrier but yeah, I need boxes. If I go to a liquor store, do they give wine boxes away?

They might if you ask! They might even do it at Safeway since I would guess that they just recycle them anyway. Never hurts to ask!

ETA it might be a bit cheaper to find a brand you like and buy cases instead of individual bottles. You could still have a good amount of variety, you just might save a little bit over buying only individually.

We're probably going to buy the beer and wine a week before from Total Wine and Sams and then just deliver it to the caterer. If not I'll store the cases in the guest room

We have our stuff in the guest room closet and I covered the window more so it's darker in there as well.

We currently have 8 cases of wine and champagne in FMIL's guest room. We've been buying it a case at a time for months. Smiley smile

My BM/cousin is storing them for us in her house. We wanted it in a controlled environment and my BM offered.
