Having experience my own "not real" courthouse wedding, I wanted to comment.

For those of you doing a court house wedding; it's not the way the wedding is performed that makes it not "real" for some of us that say it wasn't real for us. Think of it this way; regardless of the price tag on it, the number of guests that attend, how long you plan it and-so-on-and-so-forth, A WEDDING IS ONLY AS REAL AS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO PEOPLE GETTING MARRIED.

The reason my court house wedding was not real, at least for me and my situation, is because when I got married it should have been because I absolutely loved the person I was standing there with, entering the marriage with and he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with (and I did) but I also believed he felt the same way about me. The problem was that he was a narcissist and he didn't feel that way. What I thought was the perfect relationship was a very long, drawn out, well acted, planned shame and I fell for it. Everything he did was a manipulation of some sort, including the proposal and marriage.

So while my wedding at the courthouse was very real for me, and I was very committed to it and took it 100% seriously... it just wasn't the same for him. The courthouse wedding wasn't what made the marriage false, he was.

It also may be possible that some ladies are under the impression that if you are spending a certain amount of money on a wedding that the relationship couldn't possibly be false. This, of course, is also not a great way to think about it.

A courthouse wedding can be the perfect way for a committed couple to get married. Those of us with bad experiences with them shouldn't down others for choosing that route to unite with the ones they love.

This just happened today. Celia posted her comment and I went back to say "wanna bet this post gets deleted" and boom it was gone Poor doggies always getting their feelings hurt.

What happened to the invitation via text post?!?! I had read 300-some comments and went back just now and it's gone :-( I don't want to get anyone in trouble by talking about a past thread we're not supposed to and then I or someone else gets a strike or banned or whatever, but what led to that crazy post getting hidden???

@amy this forum is supposed to be a place for honest advice. If all that is wanted is support/validation that won't happen here if a post is against etiquette. The truth hurts sometimes but it needs to be heard. I have found it to be very supportive unless it is a post they see 1000xs a day or it is a hot topic issue.
