We could not afford to throw a wedding last year, but the number 14 has significant meaning in our relationship so we eloped in 2014. We are now able to have a renewal ceremony and reception for family and friends, we have everything already so instead of having a wedding shower where guests bring gifts, most of which we already have, would it be tacky to have a stock the bar shower. My MOH is throwing the party, and asked what I thought about a stock the bar party.

Do you bring gifts to a vow renewal? Seems a little unnecessary.

^^originalKD- I actually genuinely had that question. when you attend the vow renewal, do you bring a gift? I've never attended one!

I wouldn't. But I've never been to one. I might bring a card that says, "Happy anniversary." but I don't usually buy other people anniversary presents. Wedding presents are to start the couple out, but since you're already married...

    Definitely an interesting question.

Well. now you girls have opened another chapter of a book I haven't read. Are you supposed to bring a gift for a couple who married a year ago and are now having a first anniversary vow renewal that looks like a wedding (complete with honor attendants)? I always go the money route, but is it more appropriate to gift the couple with something material and more suited for an anniversary -- something like a beautiful crystal decanter or a Lenox piece? I've never been invited to a vow renewal, but one of my favorite WW posters, Nay from NJ, hosted a beautiful vow renewal last August on her tenth anniversary. I would attend that celebration with bells on, but I have no idea what the proper protocol is for gift giving.
