Sticker shock on floral proposal

We received our floral proposal and are having sticker shock. Anyone else experienced this? My bouquet is $325, which I don't think is outrageous but bridesmaid's are $200 each. I asked if we could cut them down to $80ish - personally I feel like I could do the bridesmaid's bouquets myself but I...

I asked if we could cut them down to $80ish - personally I feel like I could do the bridesmaid's bouquets myself but I don't know if I want to take on that task. Corsages are $45 each - is this normal or considered a little high? Centerpieces are coming in at $350-400 each. Thoughts?!

Then this was another florist I stopped by one day. I just got their average pricing. I'm sure adding what kind of flowers n what season they're in n how many of the flowers it'll be pricey.

I'm from Chattanooga! I live in Nashville but all my family is still in Chatt! My dad's businesses require them to get flowers a ton. They use Creighton's Flowers in Rossville, GA (right on the TN/GA line). Both of my brothers used them for their weddings too, and the flowers were gorgeous! I can't remember how much they were, but I don't think their pricing was outrageous.

It does. It's about 5500 all told. And a HUGE portion of it was my chuppah with flowers (kinda like your arch). Those take a lot of labor. But my vision is woodland so it's a lot of moss and ferns and wood with just a few small flowers here and there.

The more info I'm getting though, the more reasonable the price seems. I'm having the ceremony and reception in the same location, so they have a lot less on the labor cost. Also, roses and renunculus are super popular flowers. But I also gave the florist a budget and they all tries to come as close as they could.

I would definitely get other quotes tho. I got like 5 and they were all similar. This florist gave me an excellent visual of what she was thinking as well. But again, I'm not even really having flowers. Berries and greenery. And it's still expensive because of time of year.

My wedding is in Miami and at first they gave me crazy prices too, she didn’t even convince me and I didn’t feel she understood my vision, I thought that was the regular price because “she was giving me a discount” the prices were the same you say so I decided to try to do it myself, while looking for fake flowers to do a trial I met a florist and hi gave me his card, he immediately understood what I wanted and was waaay more affordable, just keep looking! You’ll find a great price

Thank you for sharing. I'd say that's pretty average and mine is at least 30% more I'm finding out.

Well that at least makes me feel better. My coordinator is helping me get other quotes as well. I was quoted double what you were. That's the big sticker shock there!!

I haven't found out what mine will be but I don't want to spend thousands of money on flowers that I'm only going to have for one day... Just not worth it to me. But good luck girl Smiley smile

Where are you? centerpieces seem a bit high but everything else is about right. My bouquet was $250, bridesmaids $200 and centerpieces were $75 because that's what I selected, tell them what you want to pay to bring the budget in

Omg, I thought mine was expensive. They quoted me $4500 for 7 tall, 6 small centerpieces, 5 BM, 5 GM,an arch. $185 for Bride's boutquet, $85 for BM, $20 for boutonniere, $30 for corsages, $750 for arch, $195 for tall, $125 for smaller centerpieces, then there's delivery, set up, taxes. Where are you located?

I mean, that's a lot, and DEFINITELY shop around with your coordinator, however, I will also say that:

My quote has almost no flowers and is that expensive. Also, my venue is a really beautiful library, so we didn't want to cover the stacks of books. I don't know how much you're relying on flowers for impact, and some of the flowers you want are expensive, especially when they're not in season (ie Lily of the Valley outside of late spring). The other important factor, IMO, is that you're getting married in October, which is what May/June was for our parents' generation. It's become the most popular month for weddings in recent years. So, supply and demand, she can probably charge that much and still get tons of business. I'm the only wedding a lot of my vendors are doing for the entire month, so that helped me balance out shipping in some flowers.

    I hope this helps!

I live in NY and everyone knows NY is expensive, my florist is charging me $12 for men corsages, $150 for my bridesmaids bouquets, $250 for my bouquet, for 4 flower head bands $25 each and my table centerpieces are $250 for tall vases and flowers. I am having a fall wedding and i am using a total of 4 colors in my flowers.

After viewing some of the prices above i now feel like i am getting a steel.

I can justify the bouquet price although is high maybe you want a lot of volume and off season flowers add up quick but the bridesmaid bouquet is outrageous! Way too much same for the boutonnières.

I grew up in the Chattanooga area as well and I think my family has used them for funeral arrangements and such to send to others - so I'll look into them. It just never crossed my mind as my wedding is downtown and I was sticking with a florist close by. I have now reached out to others for quotes, so we will see!

I agree, my bouquet wasn't such a shocker (maybe $25-50 more than I was expecting) as all the other items were. She is talented but I'm also not trying to spend a fortune.
