Sticker shock on floral proposal

We received our floral proposal and are having sticker shock. Anyone else experienced this? My bouquet is $325, which I don't think is outrageous but bridesmaid's are $200 each. I asked if we could cut them down to $80ish - personally I feel like I could do the bridesmaid's bouquets myself but I...

I asked if we could cut them down to $80ish - personally I feel like I could do the bridesmaid's bouquets myself but I don't know if I want to take on that task. Corsages are $45 each - is this normal or considered a little high? Centerpieces are coming in at $350-400 each. Thoughts?!

Hey girl! So I’m very picky with how i spend money since we are shopping for a farm, just found out I’m preggo, and paying for a wedding... plus I’m crafty so i did a lot of DIY

i actually ordered my bouquet from southern blooms boutique and it’s a wooden bouquet! For $160. It’s gorgeous.

now for my bridesmaids and the men i did mine myself! It was so easy and so much cheaper. Each girl is carrying a lantern ($18), floral arrangement on top ($2), a burlap bow ($12 for two spools of burlap), and they will each have some artificial moss inside ($4 for a bag), and a led candle that flickers ($25 for a dozen).

That sounds really steep to me and If you’re interested in still having this particular florists, I’d give them your budget and see what they can do with that or get other quotes.

I am DIYing my own flowers through Fifty Flowers and my budget will be around $500-700. I’ve seen someone DIY florals through Costco and they looked great. Ashlyn Carter has a lot of beautiful YouTube videos on floral arrangements (link: https://youtu.be/BAf81jfvlfY). Might be worth looking into! I am going to do my florals two days before my wedding and enlist some help. Good luck!

I’m in Maryland and live near an Amish flower shop. My bouquet is $45 and my bridesmaids are $200 (total) for 6. The total for my bouquet, a toss bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 13 bouts, church flowers, and 3 corsages was $556. I know this is abnormally cheap but local flower shops have had to come down on prices to compete with her

We are in Nashville but the wedding is in Chattanooga. And the florist is in Chattanooga.

Sadly, I don't think mine is worried about coming down on prices. I asked what would be a less expensive alternative to the corsages, as they just are not that important to me. She said her corsages start at $35 for basic and she was giving me a great deal at $45 with what she chose. I think for her pricing, sure it is a good deal. But that is such a minute detail to me. I'm starting to think I'll get them elsewhere.

I never really gave a budget, just said I didn't want to be outrageous. I knew her minimum for a wedding was $2,500, but my ceremony and reception are in two different locations Plus I'm wanting a floral arbor out front of the church, so I knew that would have a hefty price tag, and said okay. After I got the quote, I looked at fifty flowers, Costco and Sams online - their pricing is pretty good and I saw other wholesale flower companies. I'm just not sure I want to take on the florals, even partial for the wedding.

That does seem a bit high to me, but I was also getting estimates on the high end from most florists I spoke with. I ended up going with a local wholesale florist and was able to get my bouquet for $150 and bridesmaids for $35

Price seems high but this can be your area or the season or even the flowers you’re picking. I used some more exclusive flowers on my bouquet but didn’t for my bridesmaids and I went back and forwarded with florist on reducing prices on certain areas. We substitute a few flowers here and there to make the price more reasonable. A lot of the florist that send me proposals would literally based the quote on the picture so they’ll quote for each flower use in it and how full the arrangement is. You can work this with them and reduce it. Also make sure you stay with the flowers in season in your area. When they need to import or buy from another state the cost goes really high.

Depending the season you're getting married plus the season of the flowers you're wanting plus labor and then delivery and then set up it adds up the costs. I'm trying to figure out if real flowers really matter to me or do I want to use fake. Try looking up Sams club or Traders Joes (if you have them) and see about ordering flowers n DIY them yourself to cut costs. Have you even tried checking your local grocery store? I mean you can get beautiful flower arrangements for a lot less money. I would shop around with florists and see what you can do.

I know if you want lavender its more expensive but if you do dry lavender its less expensive. Or the faux flowers at hobby lobby n michaels they look beautiful. You could do a mixture.

It all depends if you want real flowers or not. I'm dreading to go back to this florist but I'm hoping to get a deal or she can do something beautiful but not be expensive.

But if you want out of season flowers I do know they can be expensive than in season flowers. I would definitely shop around tho Smiley smile

Do you mind if I ask if yours is charging an extra fee - called delivery, set-up and strike? Mine is - it's 10% on top of the cost of florals - pre tax.

My bouquet will have a few peonies if we can get them in at a premium of $14.00 a stem and Lily of the valley at close to $9.00 a stem - I'd even asked about faux and she prefers to use real but is willing to quote the faux, which said will basically be half per stem. No one else except the groom's boutonniere will have Lily of the valley. So again, I'm not so much batting an eye at my bouquet - I was thinking probably $250 but it's $325. But the bridesmaids at $200 for roses and ranunculus with a few fillers, is about 3x what I thought. Otherwise, the rest is in season. She did tell me she special orders all of her flowers ahead of time to ensure she has what she needs and doesn't rely on her supplier to just carry it in store.

That does seem a bit high to me. Have you looked into a whole sale florist? Or using greenery? That would cut down cost also!

WOW. even for a wedding that seems insane. I guess it would depend on if the flowers you picked are hard to care for or out of season and how big and elaborate they are. Still seems super high to me.

Whoa. It all really depends on the flower type and what you want. I gave my florist a small budget to begin with ($500) and I do not want a huge bouquet so my bouquet was around $55 and my bridesmaids are $45 the boutineers and coursages are $8 a piece. I thought this was super reasonable. For reference I'm in VT and I was super upfront that I had a small floral budget.

That seems very expensive to me. We are paying $1700 for my bouquet. 3 bridesmaids, the groom, 3 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, 5 courages, 2 dads, 10 isle pieces, 15 centerpieces, 2 wine barrels, cake flowers and greenery for the sweetheart table.

It sounds like she uses a more expensive route to get her flowers. That probably means that she has an order minimum and even if you aren't using as many as she has to order, you're paying for them all.

This was the prices but I'm sure once I figure out the flowers I want it'll be way more. I haven't figured out what kind of flowers I want yet. I would def shop around more florists n see what is cheaper.
