Staying Healthy for the Wedding

Sarah, on August 6, 2019 at 5:07 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 8
At least in my experience, I have found that I get sick when I’m the most stressed! And what is more stressful than wedding planning?? I also tend to get a good fall cold every year, which is when my wedding is.

What are you brides doing to stay healthy for the big day? Probiotics? vitamins? supplements?

I taking a daily vitamin every day. And was trying to stay active at least twice a week during the wedding planning process (though that proved to be kind of hard the closer it got to the wedding)

I had weight loss surgery a few years ago, and because of it I have to take several vitamins and supplements for the rest of my life. I have added probiotics. I also have been drinking a lot more water, and i've been working out 3 days a week for several years, but now i've added walking too...it's good for my mental health and good mental health helps keep me from feeling rundown.

I got super paranoid two weeks out from the wedding. Leading up to the day, I was on multi-vitamins, allergy medication, and Airborne. Any time I felt the dreaded tingling on my lip, I pre-emptively applied cold sore medication. I instantly medicated when I felt under the weather to try to push it down. In addition, I was following my make-up artist's guidelines on drinking lots of water and cutting sodium from my diet. 🙄

I take Airbourne immune system vitamins they seem to work, my FH is sick right now and so far I have seemed to avoid his cold. I take them year round. Also working out at least 3-4 days a week and eating healthy!

Prior to the wedding, I was eating super healthy but also taking a women's multivitamin every morning and drinking a ton of water. I washed my hands several times a day and disinfected my phone and desk every single week.

Probiotics definitely help (with just about everything in my opinion), but adding a good vitamin D supplement and vitamin C would be most helpful. You can also take an echinacea to really boost your immune system both as a preventative and if you find yourself coming down with something to help you get over it quicker. Other than that, lots and lots of water, healthy food - stay away from sugar as much as possible because it will really weaken your immune system, and as much rest as you can possibly get.

When I get sick, it's usually throat related so I go to the doctor asap to test for strep. That way if it is, I can get rid of it faster!
