So I loved my dress when I bought it in December. In the last few weeks, I have been reading comments made by people regarding how strapless dresses have a tendency to make brides look horrible (arm pit fat, back fat, etc) and how guests are starting to hate the look. I know I'm guilty of doing the same. When people go to weddings everyone is excited about the dress, but pass the worst judgement on it and the bride. I went to a wedding were the bride wore a mermaid dress, but it looked horrible. The dress was gorgeous, but it just didn't fit her shape. I am extremely afraid that my dress will do the same to me. I have an A-line strapless dress in white and I really want it to be beautiful on me, but I might just be blinded by the fact that its a wedding dress and not see the facts about it. I honestly have body issues right now and don't want to look like a whale coming down the isle. I'm starting to lose weight but I'm afraid my view will be skewed..

Ok I am a size 18/20 with some girls 44dd I just had my first fitting yesterday and I am also wearing a strapless a line dress I was worried about all the same thing trust me but the seamstress at bridal salon is one attaching my corset bra to my dress at the top so my girls stay put and to make sure dress doesn't slip also I am leaving the last 2 or 3 hooks and eyes open on my bra and tucking it so I wont have that pinched in look at the top and sides of my dress not sure if you have had alterations done or what your budget is but just food for thought

I was going to suggest a sheer shawl/wrap/bolero type thing, but honey you don't need one!!!! You look lovely in that dress. Smiley smile NO one is going to think you look bad.

Your dress is BEAUTIFUL! Try not to let the negative thoughts reside in your head, I'm another bride with a strapless dress. We fell in love with our dresses for a reason, and if you feel good about having your dress on you will glow and that is what will make you beautiful on your wedding day =)

Your dress is beautiful and should make you feel beautiful. Honestly, the nasty comments about the lady in the mermaid dress should not matter, if SHE liked how she looked and felt in the dress. Same for you. There is a commenter here, Shannon S, who stated that at her wedding, she had back fat (If I recall correctly) but it didn't matter in the end because they had a great party and they were married.

No body issues, please. Fuel your body with nutritious food, move around and relish its mechanics and be joyful that it functions and that you can fit it in your lovely dress.

Unfortunately when you have body issues, nothing will help when looking in the mirror...I got strapless and I am a small size but due to body issues I always think I look fat in pictures no matter what I wear.I think you look amazing!!

You do not look like a whale, girl! i personally have never been a fan of a strapless wedding gown--but that is just my personal opinion/taste every wedding ive been to the bride wore a strapless gown and I've always felt that I just couldn't see myself in that style. But if you loved the dress initially dont listen to what 'others' think or say. Wear what makes you feel beautiful Smiley smile
