Arianna, on January 23, 2021 at 6:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
I'm trying to cut corners in the looking for the venue. How do I cut the biggest cost CATERING is it cheaper to just get it at the venue (spend the extra money) or do i cater somewhere else? I was quoted 4000$ for the event and thats alot. What should I do?

$4,000 for venue and food? Because that’s not bad.
Just for food seems like a lot. How many guests?
I found it cheaper to find a venue that allowed outside catering and bring food In.

Looking for a venue that allows you to bring in outside food like BBQ and bring your own alcohol is definitely cheaper. But honestly, $4000 really isn't bad at all for venue and food for 70 guests. That would be an absolute steal where I live lol

That's actually a pretty good price for 70 people. Weddings aren't cheap. You can definitely try to find a venue that you can rent the space and then find a caterer, but depending on where you live and the type of venue you want you might not be able to find one for cheaper.

$4,000 for venue and catering for 70 people is a really good price! Unless you plan on having something like BBQ or Mexican catered, it will be hard to find anything cheaper.

Wow that is a steal depending on what area you are located? My venue is $8k for the same amount of people.

Cost is seriously dependent on where you are, the size of your wedding, and what is "the norm" around you.

Where I am, there isn't even a venue I could get for $4000 for that many people, let alone food. At the same time, for us, when we did the math on a venue that catered vs one that required us to hire a caterer... the latter was more expensive by FAR!

Full disclosure: for us, the place that gave us the most bang for our buck was still $150/head. And that was the cheapest we found.

    But that's NYC for you.

Unfortunately, it's really hard to cut corners on venue searches. You've just got to do the research and the math.

Offsite catering is nearly always cheaper and tastier...including restaurant catering. Because you don't have the automatic price hike associated with the word "wedding"

That is a really good price! My venue was $3250 alone, but you must do catering (food/drinks) through them and the minimum is $13,000. I did the math of additional upgrades and packages I want for food a drinks and that is about $22,000.00. That is just venue, food, and drinks.

This does not including cake, flowers, decoration, photos/videos, dj, and everything else.
