Set your budget first, then set your approximate guest list, then pick a venue which can accommodate both.

It is definitely not too early to start.

Definitely not too early. Some venues are already booked a year out.

You need to know your budget first. After that i say go look. I am not getting married till April 2019 but we already booked a venue. We only booked it because it locked us into this year's rates as opposed to paying any increased rates later. If you are getting married during the season and not off season dates book up fast at some venues.

Congratulations! Now is a great time to start! If June is when you're looking to get married, it's a popular time and lots of places book up fast. I would suggest setting a budget, get a rough number for your guest list in mind so you know how many people your venue will need to accommodate and start looking. Smiley smile

I would start looking! I have friends who just booked their venue for June 2018. You don't have a date if you don't have a venue!

The venue we chose typically books 1.5 to 2 years out. Definitely not too early to get to work! Budget and a rough gust list first, though.

I booked my venue for September 2018 about a month ago. The same week, the venue had booked 5 other weddings for 2018. It's definitely not too late to start looking after you've set your budget and guest list.

Budget -> guest list -> venue. It's a good idea to get all of that out of the way earlier so it's less stress later.

I'm getting married in 2018 and narrowing down my final choice so I can book now. Definitely not too early in my opinion.

Like PP have stated, it's not too early. I got engaged end of last year and last month I booked my venue (catering included), church, DJ, and photographer.

    Now.

I'm getting married April 2018 and when we booked, we literally got the last Friday night in April of 2018.

I've already started! I have a budget, guest list, and venue. That's it so far though.

Definitely start! We booked 2 years out and I'm glad we did because almost all of the fall Saturdays were already taken. We booked all of our larger things pretty far in advance as well. We're 9 months out now and I'm having the hardest time finding calligraphers, videographers and someone to do our hair.. so I'm regretting that I didn't book everything when I was on a roll. I feel better early than later! Especially before vendors start to raise their prices!

I was told you can never be too early! We aren't getting married until 2018 as well but we have the venue booked (photographer and DJ too actually, I wanted someone specific for each and I didn't want to chance them booking up). But definitely set your budget/guest list first.
