Stars and moon themed wedding - help!

SPF, on March 6, 2017 at 3:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 45

Hi everyone! It's my first post on here so hopefully I do this right Smiley smile

I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas or could guide me in the right direction here... my fiance (Kyle) and I are doing a stars and moon themed wedding in October. I've got a nice long-sleeve lace ivory and beige dress (I'll post a picture too), and I want to try to figure out how to incorporate stars and moons into my veil/headpiece. Sometimes stars and moons can be done in a tacky manner and I really want them to be subtle and sweet. Any ideas?!

I also was thinking of doing navy suits for my fiance and his groomsmen, but would that look good? I bought the dress yesterday and I'm having cold feet about it, even though I loved it when I saw it. Just wondering if I'm going in the right direction here. Any help or ideas are endlessly appreciated!

This is the front, better picture of the color I think!

JJ - I do love the dress and feel good in it! I just realized how beige it is and got a little nervous!

First you should update your avatar. You might get more responses that way. My FH and I are attempting to incorporate stars in our wedding as well. We plan to make the ceiling of our reception look like a night sky (fingers crossed), but that will probably be the extent of it. I agree that it can be an easy thing to make cheesy. Have you thought of having your wedding outside under the stars? Our reception is at our church so it's sentimental to us, otherwise we would be having an outside wedding too. As for the veil, you could get one that has crystals scattered all over, like a starry sky. The dress is beautiful though and I wouldn't want the veil to take away from the dress at all. I think navy suits would be classy. What are your other colors?

I have no advice, I'm terrible with themes but I absolutely LOVE your dress. It is gorgeous and you look amazing in it!

I think your dress is beautiful! My dress came in rose gold, I opted not to go that route and went with ivory, but it was a touch choice. I think you look great, but if you're having second thoughts right after purchasing, to me that means it may not be the one.

Your dress is beautiful. I also agree that having moons and stars might not be the best route for your veil. Using little hints of "sparkles" could do the trick!

FutureMrs2017 - I wish we could do it outside, but our wedding is October 29th so it may be risky with the weather - you never know in New England!

Celia - I've read that and it's beautiful! Unfortunately we're not huge Game of Throners Smiley sad

    Nicole2017 - thank you!!

Marta - that's what I'm afraid of. Someone mentioned it being too beige and I started to freak out a little bit about it and second guess, but that's also in my nature to do so maybe I'm overthinking it Smiley smile

Two Peas - thank you Smiley smile I think sparkles are a good idea! Maybe save the stars and moons stuff for the reception?

We are kind of incorporating a celestial theme as well. However, as much as I really wanted to incorporate stars or moons into my dress and jewelry, I felt that once I chose my dress it felt too forced. I ended up just choosing some crystsl jewelry and hair pins that are just tiny crystal stars. We are sprinkling the moon and stars stuff into our decor but don't want it to be over the top and feel too much like a theme. Maybe try simple pins or jewelry (there's a lot of nice ones out there ) and maybe just hints of it in the decor. I can try and see if I can find a photo of the hair pins. They were from Etsy.

Nicole - that's how I feel! I don't want it to be too much or be a "theme" necessarily - just something so that people know it's there - it's really important to the two of us. Those hair pins sound cute, I'll try to find some on etsy! That's a good idea instead of a headpiece!

Navy would be perfect for that kind of theme. Your dress is beautiful if you are worried about the color see if it can come in ivory or white and try it out?

I love the hair pins idea.

I could also see small moon or star shaped stud earrings being cute, as long as they're not huge or colorful.

Have you thought about getting some dainty star earrings? Simple studs or small dangles?

You all are the best! Justine - where did you find the star hair accessories? I love those and if I can find them I'll be buying them, they're perfect! I have a little tattoo of stars and a planet and a moon and I think this would be perfect to go in my hair Smiley smile

Grace - thank you so much, I'm glad it isn't too beige, I was starting to get so nervous about it but you've all made me feel much better!

I'll definitely be doing star and moon stud earrings! Nothing too fancy or overdone.
