Star Wars/Harry Potter Wedding Ideas

I am a huge HP fan and LOVE your invitations!

My fiancé and I are having a whimsical/Disney fairytale wedding and we have been trying really hard to let it be more of a 'mood' than a theme! For instance, a lot of the instrumental we plan on using will be Disney songs so I would look to Harry Potter for some ceremony music! Neville's Waltz is lovely!

Love it! FH and I are huge nerds. I love HP and we both love Star Wars. We are talking to our photography about doing some nerdy pictures with our engagement pictures. She is just as excited as we are!

My fiance and I are HP lovers for LIFE! We are using HP book pages to make table runners. I have also seen other book page DIY decor on Pinterest!

I don't have any ideas to offer but as a fellow HP and Star Wars fan I must say I LOVE your invitations and STDs.

We are doing a Star Wars theme

Our WP are going to have lightsabers, we have the 501st legion and the R2 coming (the guy who goes to all the conventions is from our area) , ceremony music will be from the movies, and our photobooth will have Star Wars Props

Oooo, the book pages are awesome! I'm actually a librarian as well (how much more of a nerd can I be, really?) so I think people expect these things of me lol! If we get to have the Stormtroopers in our wedding photos, I think my FH will be the happiest man alive.

I googled Star Wars Wedding and there are some great ideas! Star Wars lightsaber cake cutting set (no link but maybe Etsy??), cake toppers, guestbooks, rings, cakes... omg so many great nerdy ideas lol.

I've seen a lot of cool centerpieces that incorporate a stack of books, you could work that in with HP books!

You could have astronomy/stars as projected lighting at your venue

Have Leia outfits or Hermione's Yule Ball dress inspire your dress

I recommend checking out Pinterest for ideas - there are a ton of ideas that incorporate both themes while still looking classy and like a wedding.

Thank you for all the great ideas! I've been on Pinterest and Etsy and my MOH is working to help with ideas too. I don't want to go overboard on the theme, but I figured some of you might have ideas I haven't seen or though of yet.

We had subtle nerdy throughout our wedding, as we personally didn't want it too in your face, but I would love going to a super nerdy wedding! I had paper flowers, dyed my colors, that were from HP. I also had an 8 bit heart bracelet and DH had 8 bit heart cufflinks.

We also did a Mario themed wedding cake, with a mario and peach cake topper.

Unless you're super crafty (and if you are, I'm super jealous), I think Etsy and Google will be your best friends. I bet you can find so much stuff on there, such as guest books, decor, etc. that are nerdy and fit within your theme.

I do agree with PP that you don't want to go too crazy on nerdy decor because it does start to feel like a kid's party and not a wedding.

We're bringing along my HP wand and his SW light saber for pictures. I'm buying him SW styled cuff links and I think I'm going to buy themed socks for us as well. Just small, subtle stuff to have on us the day of to satisfy our nerdy ways.
