Staples ruined my invite paper!!!

Sara, on July 1, 2010 at 2:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

So I had staples cut my invite paper... a little more than $100 worth of paper (500 sheets!) I got it back last week... FH said it looked fine.. I didnt check... got it out to work on my invites this afternoon and its crooked... ALL OF IT! Its about 1/8th of an inch wider on one end than the other... I called and they said they could refund my money... umm what about the cost of the paper... well we can fix it... ummm no it will be the wrong size!! Im headed there now but I am NOT happy! They better figure out how to fix this mess in a timely matter cause I have 200 invites to make in 3 weeks!

Yeah, get on them NOW. I had a simular issue with them cutting my StheD's . It was just barely fitting in the envelope - but they didn't want to fix mine at all. A lot of the people in those print centers are not fully trained.

Staples needs to replace your paper. What do they say about that? And the printing charges??

Speaking as a former office depot print center employee they do not train well at all and really its up to the person doing your job and how much they actually care. I took my time and made sure things were done rite but not all of them do..they really dont care.

Go directly to management preferrably with the receipt(s) for your paper. They need to replace it!

I am freaking now because I am supposed to use Staples to get my programs printed but I am not getting them cut, it's normal printing paper being folded in half. Should I go elsewhere?!? I am so effing worried now. I am sorry Sara that they messed things up for you. But glad to hear they are fixing them, even if they aren't perfect.

Sorry for your troubles. However, as far as liability, Staples does not have to replace your paper if you did not buy it from them. They should fix the crooked trim, its really not that difficult to cut paper straight and square, if they have the right equipment. They will have to figure out which side is off, place the paper in squarely and shave the crooked edge off to square it up.

No one will notice if it is slightly more narrow than an exact measurement, but they might notice if it is crooked.

**Just a thought -- There's a reason Staples is not the first place associated with Wedding Stationery. This is because they really aren't a printing company at all, they are an office supply store. Just because they supply the equipment does not mean they know how to use it to its best potential.
