Stage Fright?

Shannon S., on August 16, 2010 at 9:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Does anyone else get a case of stage fright when they think about walking down the aisle? I'm not a princessy type, and the idea of being "The Bride" with all eyes on me makes me pretty anxious. We're doing our best to keep things small and stack the room with people we care about, so I'll be more comfortable. We're also forgoing a lot of posed photos and the pro photographer (I find being photographed very intrusive and weird - my first wedding, the photographer was a waste of money because I was so clearly uncomfortable that the photos turned out awful).

Does anyone else feel this way? Don't get me wrong, I'm a very confident person and I'm comfortable in my own skin...I just don't like to feel like everyone is staring at me. Does anyone have any tips for staying calm?

I'm not that freaked out about walking down the aisle, but am nervous about speaking during the ceremony and also the first dance and toasts. My goal during the ceremony is only to focus on FH and pretend it is only the two of us in the room. I haven't figured out a coping mechanism for the reception yet.

I was just afraid of falling down the stairs I was walking down to meet my dad and walk down the aisle. Since they are all people you care about, you shouldn't feel awkward. And if you need to relax, just take a shot of your favorite booze.

Yep, i will totally have stage fright! I don't like the fact of all eyes on me as well...maybe a shot before hand, or just have tunnel vision down the aisle!??

I've photographed more than a few brides with 'stage fright' and what I try to get through to them is this: you're the center of attention that day because the women want to be you (the beautiful bride coming down the aisle) and the guys wish they were waiting at the top of that aisle for their bride.

On your wedding day, you are a walking reminder of love, hope and all of our dreams. Hold your head up, use that confidence and inner strength to show off your love for your groom and everyone will completely love you.

(That, or picture them all naked. I dunno - that one gets more airtime but really it's tough when you have stage fright. It's your movie role - you'll play it, it'll be fine, you'll live, try to enjoy it as much as possible because hopefully you will never do it again! LOL)

Thanks everyone! Trust me when I say there are very few people I'll be wanting to picture naked! Unless my plan of inviting Ryan Reynolds actually works out...

I thought I would be but honestly, the only person I looked at when I walked through those doors was my husband and I couldn't even tell you which side ceremony had more people or who was sitting on the aisle. Didn't even notice.

I'm SO nervous! I'm a total klutz and add 200 eyes to me and I'll be rolling like a fluffy, white roll of toilet paper. *sigh* Definitely getting some super cute flats for the big day. :]

I'm not too nervous about walking down the isle...I am worried about speaking at the ceremony. I hate talking in front of people...even though were just repeating after the officiant I'll probably still mess something up!

Yeah, I don't dance at all, nothing, never!! My FS is a great dancer and loves when the whole world is watching. I know my first dance lesson is going to be horrible! I will cry and say I can't do it, we will probably get in a fight because he doesn't understand WHY i can't just move like him.. LOL... But I am just going to drink a couple glasses of wine and hope where ever I pick for my lessons can get me moving!!...
