spray tan for wedding day?

RaeAnne, on June 22, 2017 at 3:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi Everyone!!

So I am going back and forth about getting a spray tan for my wedding day! The only problem is, is that I've never had one before and I'm afraid my skin will either 1) break out because I have very sensitive skin or 2) I won't look "natural" because I'm so fair!

Is anyone else contemplating about this or has anyone gotten one and had good and/or bad experiences? I would love to know what you think!!

Smartest thing you can do is to go to a place that airbrush tans and get a patch test to see if you breakout before getting your whole body done.

Thank you- that's such a good idea! I failed to mention that my wedding is June 30th...so I feel like I'm running out of time to test things out!

I got an airbrush tan for my wedding and I loved it. I would have totally regretted looking ghostly in that dress. It wasn't an issue at all. Do a trial a few months beforehand.

I also love them. Airbrush is the only way to go for a wedding or professionally photographed event. I think the idea to do a small area of your skin to see how you react is a great idea since you do not have enough time to test out your whole body (maybe on your stomach or another area that wont be seen in your dress). For the record, I have incredibly sensitive skin and I have never had a breakout from the spray tan. I actually get spray tans weekly to make my chronic hives less noticeable.

If you do decide to get one, I would start researching now. You will probably need it done a week from today and make sure they know you are a first timer and they will give you important instructions.

If you go, do one that is by hand!! Not a booth. I've had friends who have done booths and it always comes out looking ridiculous. My sister is the whitest person I've ever met, but she got one done by hand and it looked so good. She wasn't orange or streaky.

I love spray tans! I would recommend doing it, but not for the first time for your wedding.

Please try it first and preferably at least 24 hours before your wedding. I tried it for the first time right before E-Pics. Ultimately I liked it but not until after I had showered a couple times.

I'm kind of pale and deciding not to. I don't feel like stressing out over it and want to look like myself and not look back and think wow I was so tan because of the spray tan! my mom thinks I should hah

I have done both the booth and airbrush spray tans and will say both of them required some trial and error. Out of the 2 options, I recommend the airbrush by hand method, but just make sure the color is suited for your skin tone. The first time I tried it, the color was too dark for me and looked weird. It took a good week or more to fade so that I looked normal. As an alternative, Jergens lotion with the self-tanner built in works great and allows you to build up your color suited to your skin tone.

I am getting one; I do before every wedding I attend or have been in and anything major events I am attending. Have a trial asap. And if you do, always do it 1-2 days prior to the occasion - I prefer 2 for me.

I just got one and it turned out great! I would recommend to make sure it is a person spraying you and not just a machine doing it. My wedding is in two weeks and I just did one to try it. make sure you exfoliate really well the day before.

I would see if you could get a patch test today or tomorrow, preferably somewhere that will be hidden by your dress if you do break out.

I'm going to get a test tan before I decide but yes I want to get one. Just to make sure my skin looks evenly tanned Smiley smile I'll probably have bikini lines I'll want to cover.

I would be worried I'd end up looking like an Oompa Loompa.

I own a tanning salon and I air brush by hand, brides all the time. I would suggest Norvel solution. it doesn't turn you orange. Get the spray tan at least 2 days before your event. Exfoliate really well before hand, get your nails and waxing done before hand as well. After it's done, lots of moisturizer and lots of water!

I just did a trial custom tan this week for this exact reason. They're great, but there are things you learn even when it goes great! Like I missed a spot on my hand with barrier cream and now it's kind of dark. And now I know how it fades so I know exactly when to get it for the wedding!

Try in advance this weekend. Get an air brush by a person, not a machine.

If you've never had one before, don't get your first one now!
