Spooky wedding in June?

Lauren, on January 29, 2020 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I've always dreamed of an October wedding and i love Halloween. We were planning to get married on Halloween this year. But the ex wife is a nightmare and the only way to guarantee my fiance's kids will be in attendance, is to get married when we have them for a break. So we've moved the wedding up to June. I want some spooky elements to the wedding, but still nice. Will it look stupid to still have that wedding, just in June? I've given up when I get married...I feel like I should still be able to keep my theme even if it won't be the traditional season for it. Honest opinions please. If it'll look completely dumn, tell me! Thanks

I think it’s fine to have some spooky elements as a theme Smiley smile

You can do a masquerade theme for an evening wedding. That way you still get some dark mysterious-ness but it’s not pumpkins in June.

It's a theme so it makes sense that you'd have elements of it.

Yes, that's what i'm thinking. no pumpkins. but my colors would be like dark purple and greys with some spooky things here and there. My other option is to change my color scheme completely and just go with a bright, june wedding. which would be beautiful. but i've always had my heart set on a fall, spooky wedding.

Do whatever you want! I wanted to get married in October because fall is my favorite season but I had to settle for May. My venue coordinator really reinforced for me that I can still have a fall theme and fall colors if that's what I want even thought we'll be approaching summer. She said she's made it snow in July for past weddings lol.

I would preface the theme in your invitations and save the dates so people aren't too shocked and then have fun with your decorations. I wanted a feeling like it's obviously spring outside but there's no mistaking that you just walked into autumn. Your idea of having just a few spooky elements is great too!

Do it!! Stuff is gonna be so cheap since its not in season! Plus the majority of my FB friends start counting down and post Halloween memes in June anyway, if that makes you feel better. All in good spirits 👻

It would probably make more sense to me if it was a more broad "spooky" theme, like Victorian Gothic or something rather than Halloween in June.... That would see weird to me. I'm not much of a "themed weddings" person, so I think more subtle elements would be better than in-your-face skeletons or whatever. Ultimately, this is a "you do you" issue. Good luck!

I had my heart set on October as well. But the venue I fell in love with won't book September or October due to it being their "Orchard Season". So we ended up booking for June. I did keep the darker (maroon and dark grey) colors but added Sunflowers to make it pop! So i say go with what you like. It's your day!

I was thinking either deep purple or burgundy and grey. What are your guys wearing? I'm struggling about what to put them in. We don't want to do tuxes. My fiance kinda likes the jeans and a vest look, which i'm okay with. But i want them to match...not just everyone where a different pair of jeans. ugh....

The guys are wearing dark grey tuxes with a maroon vest and tie.

You can maybe have them purchase the jeans all together if he's completely set on jeans. So they all match?

But maybe do like nice dress pants with white shirts and only vests? I've seen a couple photos like that and it looks really nice!

You can have a gothic theme any time of the year. Anything you want..pumpkins might not work but the rest will easily. Check out Pinterest for gothic wedding ideas.. Lots of beautiful reds and purples there.
