South Florida Wedding on a Budget

Samantha, on January 11, 2018 at 12:21 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10

Hello everyone,

I am looking to have a small, intimate ceremony and reception in South Florida (Broward or Boca) for about 50 guests. We don't want a catering hall traditional type wedding, but rather something romantic, whimsical, rustic, long rectangular tables and lots of string lighting. We are trying to work within an $5-8k budget. Any recommendations for venues? Thanks so much!

I'm from south Florida and I'll try to think of some places for you! But I have some recommendations for florists, photographers, and DJs if you are interested!

Thank you!!! I can't seem to find any info on that venue at all. Went on their website and just found the menu but no pricing. Also interested in site fees. Do you have that by any chance? Thanks again!!

Yeah their website is through the city so its not very helpful lol but it is $350 to rent the space and $76 a person which includes cocktail hour, buffet or seated dinner (salad, a type of fish, steak, and chicken) and cake. They offer kids meals for about $12. They offer an open bar for 4 hours and then if you want it can turn into a cash bar. So for me, cocktail hour starts at 6:30 and the reception ends at 11:30 so I am keeping the bar open from 6:30-10:30. They provided linens, silverware, plates, seat covers, etc but you can upgrade if you want. They actually close the whole venue for your wedding so random people won't be on the property. I hope this helps!

@future mrs jones, I understand this is an old post but that price point sounds great, and the pictures of plantation preserve look lovely. I'm on the hunt for a romantic, but affordable venue for 80 people for November of this year or January of 2019, and haven't loved anything at our price point so far. Live in east Fort Lauderdale. Truth be told I'm not normally a country club or traditional ballroom fan, but the views at Plantation preserve look beautiful. So $76 per person seems to cover about everything, and it includes the cake? That's great. How have you liked working with them? Were there any other surprise fees besides the $350 and the tax and gratuity (I'm assuming 24%)? Just as the previous poster said, their site really isn't helpful at all lol. Thank you in advance for any info you can share!

Hey! Yeah the people at plantation preserve are so sweet and very helpful!! It’s $76 for adults and $11 for children. It includes open bar and cake (you can choose from 2 bakeries). They food is amazing! I would definitely recommended them! I haven’t seen any fess yet, just the $350 service fee, 6% tax, and 21% grattiuity. Also, you can choose to have your wedding outside if you want! I hope this helps!

Thank you @future mrs jones!! Our preferred date is only 7 months away, so this was a great find. We met with Shannon last Saturday and loved her. The grounds and clubhouse are beautiful, and we're going to get married on the golf course. I also love that they include just about everything for that $76 price point. We will be upgrading the chairs and linens to chiavari and floor length for a nominal fee, but going through Plantation Preserve is much cheaper and more efficient than if I'd had to do it on my own, and I don't have the headache of adding another vendor to my list. Not to mention that Shannon basically said she kind of acts as a day of coordinator. She is heaven sent. We live in Fort Lauderdale, but many of our guests live out in west broward, so this is perfect. We're so excited! Thank you again for the recommendation! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this post Smiley smile

That’s awesome! I’m so glad you liked it! I live about 5 minutes from there and my guests range from broward to Coral Springs! Let me know if you have any questions! I’m getting married May 26!

Thanks girl!! Feel free to share your pics. So excited for you. Smiley smile I noticed your photographer is Michelle Lawson and she was my first pick, but wasn't available at the time. I'm sure she will capture your wedding beautifully!
(I am curious as to how many uplights you're using. My dj is adding 12 lights but I wasn't sure if that was enough for the clubhouse 🤔)
