Anyone gotten any declines for a reason they were disappointed by (rationally or not)? Any funny ones?

FH's dad won't come because we invited fh's mom. Nasty divorce about 3 years ago and he's still not over it. He even ditched his other son's wedding last month! FH is really torn up about it so we are hoping to convince him to come anyways..

@Jet, maybe the animals could babysit. lol!

@MilwaukeeBride - I'm with you. I get the Packers mentality, but seriously? Preseason?? Yeah, no.

I haven't had any odd ones. Two people accepted but then got new jobs in NJ and Miami, so they'll be otherwise occupied. Not gonna' hold that against them.

@MilwaukeeBride, I'm a diehard Packer fan, too, but unless they are playing the Vikings or Bears (heck, I'll even throw the Lions in there), a Packer game is not a good enough excuse lol

A good friend's sister was invited and declined because she had been "feeling fat lately".

Also, one of DH's really good friends RSVP'd yes pretty early and then texted ON THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE OUR SATURDAY WEDDING that he couldn't make it because his gf's schedule changed. When DH told him he'd still have fun if he came by himself, this friend said he had to stay home with gf because he needed to be a "team player". *extreme side-eye*

Mine is not RSVP related but our sax player for our cocktail hour just quit because my FH would not extend an invite to our reception to his parents even though he is leaving before that and was being paid.

If you read my rant last week...yeah, I'm expecting a couple "not coming because you didn't invite my mother"s

But some times it is just not worth the drama! My boss at my second job who I am pretty close with accidentally bought concert tickets (he gets like super expensive backstage pass ones) for that weekend...even though he had a save the date! (he goes "oh! I never really paid attention to it..." after he got the invite) Hoping he'll still be able to come but I think that's the wackiest maybe decline we've gotten so far. I actually get kind of excited when I see declines...but then our guest list is twice as large as I hoped for so yeah.

I didn't have any weird declines like that. I did have what I consider to be a weird accept though. Our RBs mom asked me if families were invited. It was a FB message and I was at work so I replied yes because hers is. We invited families of those in the wedding party or immediate family. They sent in their RSVP card and added one for someone else's kid. You might think this is because they had already responded and didn't know they could bring kids. Nope. We got their RSVP also with their kid about 2 weeks later. Who does that?!?!

I feel really bad now. Everyone RSVP'd that they were coming to ours except 2 people. One is unsure of his schedule which he told me about and the other just cant make it. Apparently we had it easy .

Poor girl was so OCD she mixed up my wedding dates and it would cost her another $500 to change the flight on top of the already $500 she put in to buy the ticket! She didn't use the ticket bc it would mean days off work. It was quite a sad situation really.

There were four of us who were all super close in high school. Then one of them was getting married, and she asked the rest of us to be her bridesmaids naturally. We all accepted, and one got us all makeup bags that said "Bridesmaids" so she was super into it. Then a couple months before she dropped out of the wedding and couldn't come because it was her end-of-school-year theatre banquet. She was a theatre management major in college, and they basically put together a party at the end of the year every year to congratulate people. My friend getting married was crushed, and was so sad that her friend would choose a party with her college friends that she sees all the time over a wedding. Me and the other bridesmaid totally backed up the bride on this and completely cut ties with the theatre girl because of it. Oh and the theatre girl was like "Well I just feel like I've gotten closer to my college friends". Yeah that hurt. Oh and the worst part was, this banquet was an annual thing, and the bride was like "I'd understand if it was her senior year maybe but this is her junior year. She has next year still!!"

DH's grandmother sent back an RSVP with nothing written on it, other than her name and the No circled. It wasn't really unexpected though, she's been acting weird and not talking to the family since October at all (and erratically before that). She's also skipped family funerals in the past because she had plans to go to the beach with friends that day. REALLY?

Two family members will not be there because they might have sports on the day of the wedding. Back when I was in school, it was common to miss a game for a family event. In fact it was one of the only truly accepted reasons for not being there. One is a coach and the other is a team captain. I'm sure the team would survive one game without them, but that is none of my business. Smiley winking
