Our DJ was super experienced and we had our first dance right after dinner, and then he invited everyone else up at the end of our first dance with another semi-slow song, but not too slow. He says what happens (and what did, exactly) is everyone will get up to join the bride & groom. We went from our first dance into Wagon Wheel, and then once that song is over, and the floor is still packed, you go into a fast song.

I personally can't stand any of the songs PP's have mentioned, but that's my personal taste. I would have walked out of my own wedding if they had played Shout.

My dad's FAVORITE song is The Twist -_- He is a big goober and will be so excited when he finds out that I'm planning to play it first, and hopefully that will be the big draw to kick off the dancing.
