Song to open up the dance floor!

BUMP BUMP BUMP. I'm having such a hard time picking songs. I need ideas too!

Def something upbeat. I wouldn't do cha cha slide but depends on your crowd.. Tonight by neyo, anything pitbull, Black eyed peas, etc - the groups/singers that are always giving upbeat songs, usually nothing super dirty BC u want everyone up

Do you have a mix of old and young people? I feel like I usually hear kind of the classic traditional songs that everyone loves in the beginning, and then as the night goes on, it's more geared towards the younger crowd. What about "I wanna dance w/ somebody" Whitney Houston or "Oh What a Night" the four seasons? Or if you want something more "young" you could do "I gotta feeling" Black Eyed Peas.

We're starting ours off with September, Earth Wind & Fire, because... well we're getting married in September, and I love it.

My mom usually line dances and she and her friends (who will be present) don't like the Cha Cha Slide. Neither do I and our BP won't dance to that for sure. Something upbeat and popular is a good idea... Need a "warm up."

Whitney Houston is a great idea!!! Our guests are a good mix of ages- we are in our 30s and parents 60.

Whitney Houston always is a good idea! I think your first few songs to open the dancefloor should be something everyone knows

I agree with "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston. If you want something newer, perhaps "Happy" by Pharrell.

Ok DON'T let him play the cha cha slide. Ok heres what I play depending on the couple's music taste

Shut up and dance, You Shook Me All Night, Shout (usually not the very first song but still), Old Time Rock and Roll or Wannabe are some my first choices. Lines dances are lame and lazy as a first song choice IMO.
