It's up to you what you want, but if you are asking personal opinions, I don't care for it. I think it's a very sad song. I'm of the mind set of keeping things up beat and happy.

but, it is YOUR 'walk'n down the isle!' you need to do what makes you happy and will be good memories for you.

if you go with that others want and not what you want in your heart I think that is what you will regret.

This is tough. I love the song but I understand why your mom said its not appropriate. Its going to be an emotional moment as it is. Do you want to add a song that will make you cry on top of it? Especially if you make the ugly cry face (which no bride wants in her pics)

I'm all about classical music at weddings.

    it's regal and timeless.

Haha totally agree with you two! It could be dead silent walking down the aisle and I will be making the ugliest faces trying not to cry!

Maybe you can have it as a "must play" at the reception instead?

I love this song. It would be something different to the typical music. Go for it!

I'm walking down to part of the score from Pride and Prejudice....so I'm not your girl on this one. I love me some Lana del Ray though.

I'm actually thinking about using this same song. I'm not a crier though - I was just worried about the "traditionalists" not caring for it. Of course I absolutely hate hate hate the bridal march. People talk about classic and timeless and all I hear is a 5 year old beating on some instruments.

Walk to whatever you want. You (hope) you're only taking one trip down the aisle, make it the most awesome trip you can!

Are you having a live singer and musicians play this song for you, or are you walking down the aisle to the recorded version?

My band added this beautiful song to our set list even before the new Great Gatsby movie came out. It stops people in their tracks and gets them very emotional.

However, if you are walking down the aisle to the recorded version, you need to have your walk timed out perfectly. The recorded version will be difficult to start and stop in a place where it sounds natural. If you're using a DJ, I hope you have a very, very skilled one.

If you are using a live band and singer, you won't have any trouble and it will be outstanding, very memorable and gorgeous.

A lot of my couples walk down to untrad music; my couple yesterday had a bluegrass trio at a very formal wedding; it was totally adorable.

I would advise against anything too sad that is going to make you cry; it's a very emotional moment ANYWAY... I had a few couples use the theme from Forrest Gump (it's beautiful) and "One life one heart" from West Side Story, and I almost lost it both times.

Go easy on yourself at this moment of the day, especially if you haven't done a first look. It is very overwhelming.

You are the only one who will be happy with or regret your choice. If I had walked down the aisle to what others wanted me to I would be sad every time I thought about those terrifying 30-45 seconds. When I think back to it, it was terrifying but my song soothed me just enough to get me down the aisle!

I think it is a beautiful song, but it feels a little sad for such a joyous occasion. That being said it is YOUR wedding do what makes you happy.

I actually just googled this because it's such a gorgeous song and was thinking about doing it myself. I don't know when your wedding is but if you're still interested try listening to the piano version. Theirs no singing in it but it's still amazing. I was thinking about walking down to it as well. :-)

I'm curious if you played it or not. The vitamin string quartet plays a beautiful version of young and beautiful.
