Song Ideas?

Do you want songs for your ceremony to just be the music or do you want them to have words?

View Quoted Comment I personally like instrumental songs for the ceremony. The one wedding I went to had a different song for each bridesmaid which I thought was a bit much. Below I've listed what we are doing for our wedding.

Prelude - haven't decided yet, but it will probably just be instrumental music

Wedding Party Processional - a violin cover of My Heart Will Go On by Taylor Davis

Bride's Processional - Canon in D

Ceremony Exit - not sure yet, but my fiance likes Blue Tacoma by Russell Dickerson which is the only song that would have words during the ceremony. I had wanted to do a piano cover of Perfect by Ed Sheeran but he said no.

Wedding Party Introduction - still deciding, but we originally were going to go with Timber by Pitbull and Kesha, but since the flower girls and ring bearer are going to be introduced we didn't think that song was appropriate for children (originally flower girls and ring bearer weren't attending the reception because their parents didn't want them to, but they changed their minds). Songs I am trying to decide between are Best Day of My Life by American Authors, Feel So Close by Calvin Harris, and I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas.

Bride and Groom Introduction - fiance and I disagree on this. I want a cute slow song, but he wants a party song. I really like Stand by You by Rachel Platten. For a party song, I would say Crazy in Love by Beyonce, Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding, or This Is What You Came For by Rihanna and Calvin Harris.

Special Songs - For our first dance, we picked a song that is special to us as a couple so I would suggest picking a song that truly represents you. I picked the father/daughter song from a list of common songs and my fiance picked a song by his mother's favorite singer for the mother/son song.

Cake Cutting - still need to decide, but leaning towards either Sugar, Sugar by The Archies or Sugar by Maroon 5

First Song for Everyone - we are letting our DJ pick

Last Dance - fiance and I have talked about possibly having the last song be a spot light dance with the two of us. My brother did this and my fiance liked it. When we selected our first dance song we were torn between two because both represented us so we might use the song we didn't pick for our first dance

I also like A Thousand Years and instrumental covers of Can't Help Falling in Love

Instrumentals are going to be our choice for ceremony music. FH and myself have pretty much opposite taste in music so it will be interesting making music choices. Pretty sure we will be walking into the reception to "A little party never killed nobody" by Fergie. First or last dance will be "Stand by Me" by Otis Redding. The music is something we will admittedly do last minute as neither of us are huge music people and have such opposite taste.
