We had a sand ceremony but didn't do a song :o)

Most of the songs that you might select will have to be faded, as the ceremony will usually not last more than one minute and most songs are 3-4 minutes long.

Are you looking for something classical? Something "pop"? something "mushy"? something religious?

I agree with Carlos. The sand ceremony is so short that you can't play much of a song. And you would end up just cutting it off at a random place. So maybe something without words would be better?

We're using wax beads (to make a candle) we'll pour slow and the light it once it's all together so hopefully that will take up a few minutes. My MdOH has a beautiful voice and she said that she'd sing it for us. If we have to cut it short that's fine the last part of the song just repeats itself over and over.

I frequently do the unity sand ceremony. I talk about the symbolism of the two containers (more if their children are also pouring sand). Then I ask them to pour their sand which is the only time no one is speaking (may 30-60 seconds). Then I talk about the symbolism of the blended sand. Not much time for music.

I'm going to make a quick suggestion that might work for you. I've been preparing for an "All Italian" event this weekend. One of the artists they're asking for is "Il Divo." They have some songs that could work... especially because they always start very soft and/or instrumental.

I don't really know if you're having a DJ do sound for your ceremony. We often do. So you could ask your DJ to start the song, let it play very softly in the background while the officiant proceeds with the ceremony, and then as you start filling your container, the music would get louder. It could work out really nice and dramatic, but you have to practice, practice, practice; and of course, make sure your officiant is OK with this idea.
