Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Amanda J., on January 27, 2016 at 7:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

Hello fellow brides! I am struggling with these items for the big day. So far, I have only got the "Something new" covered. Several times over in fact. Lol. I am wearing FMIL's bridal jewelry to the rehearsal and RD. I'm at a loss on where to even put the rest on wedding day. Just wondering what you all have selected and would love to hear from the BAM's.

Well, I could be your something old, lol....

Borrow a handkerchief from one of your grandmas or use one of their candle sticks on the ceremony table. Ask one of your moms for an old penny for your shoe (unless they happen to have a sixpence) Blue? Easy. Blue margueritas!

Something old: I'm going to pin a brooch from my mother (one that she got as a little girl) to my bouquet

Something new: my dress and a bunch of other stuff tbh

Something borrowed: When my sister got sick, my family gave her my grandmother's wedding ring. She wears it every day. She told me that she'd like to lend it to me for my wedding day. I'm really excited about that.

    Something blue: my shoes!

I can technically cross off old, borrowed, and blue if I use my grandma's garter lol I feel like that's a little weird though....(thoughts?) My mom mentioned that she plans on getting me my something new, but I won't know what it it's until the day of so that it's truly "new."

Thanks Celia! I think the best I might get from my grandmothers would be a xanex from one and an old cigarette pouch from the other. Lol I love the penny idea!

Old: My grandma's wedding band that my grandpa gave to her on their wedding day. Both my grandma and my grandpa passed away within the 3 months leading up to my wedding, so it meant so much to wear it.

New: My dress, veil, and shoes

Borrowed: My mom's necklace and my grandma's diamond earrings which my aunt inherited and let me borrow.

Blue: My garter and a ring that DH had bought me 6 years ago.

    I'm no help ...

I didn't do it. My sister didn't do it. My mother, almost 40 years ago, didn't do it.

Old: I will wrap a necklace that belonged to a friend of mine that passed away into my bouquet (bonus: I get to keep her with me during the ceremony). New: shoes. Borrowed: the only thing I don't have worked out, probably will wear my mom's earrings. Blue: the necklace I am wearing has a blue stone.

My something old and borrowed was my pearl necklace borrowed from my mom - my late grandfather originally brought it home 3 of them from the Korean War as gifts for his wife (my late grandmother), his mom and his grandmother. Now that they are all passed, the necklaces belong to my mom and aunts. My blue was my shoes, and my new was everything else! Smiley smile

I am borrowing my grandmother's bible from my sister for old and borrowed. New will be my dress, jewelry, shoes, etc. We are taking a piece of FH's Dress Blues and sewing a piece into my hem. And I got a sixpence from Etsy for my shoe. Etsy also has some really cute blue tags that you can personalize to sew into your dress.

These are all so beautiful. My mom is checking with my grandma to see if she has something. She has dementia so we will probably have to have her put anything sje selects i to her travel bag right away. Hoping she has something from her wedding with my grandpa who is now deceased.

My old and borrowed was my great-great grandmother's locket borrowed from my mom. I inherited it when my mom passed away and I loaned it to my daughter when she got married. Smiley smile My garter was blue and my dress was new.

For my renewal my old will be the locket (and me!), my borrowed will be my daughter's pearls, my dress will be blue and new.
