Something old, new, borrowed, blue and sixpence in her shoe

Ellenwood2018, on March 20, 2017 at 12:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 54

How many ladies are sticking to this tradition? My new is my dress, my old is a charm from my late grandmother's necklace. Still working on the borrowed, blue and sixpence

My new is my dress, my old is a locket of my grandmothers I am having attached to my bouquet, my something blue is a piece of one of my old Air Force dress blue uniform shirts sown into the underside of the skirt of my dress, the borrowed is undecided at this time, possibly my shoes since my best friend and I wear the same size shoes and she has a crazy shoe collection.

Nope. My sister and I didn't do it. My mother didn't do it, and my parents have been married almost 40 years, so she didn't need it for luck.

Page Nonna in your title. She helps put with the sixpence. I'm not sure how to get on her list but if that's a tradition you want to follow, she is the most knowledgeable on getting them

New was easy, as most of my attire will be new.

For old (and borrowed), I'm going to borrow a bracelet from my mom that belonged to her mother.

Blue was difficult, as it doesn't go with our color scheme... So underwear it is lol

And lastly, @Nonna for the win with the sixpense.

My new is my dress, my garter is going to be blue. I'm going to borrow a pin of my grandmother's on my mom's side that my mom has for my bouquet, and I suppose that could also be my something old, though I'm also going to wear my pearl earrings that are also old.

My FH's aunt recently offered to give me a sixpence that her father (FH's grandfather) brought back from England when he was over there during WWII. My fmil and my FH's two aunts all used this sixpence for their wedding.

My mom has a sixpence that my sisters and I have all used and she has even lent to my best girlfriend for her wedding. My old was a stone from my grandfather's ring that we put on my bouquet. My new was my dress. Borrowed was my hair comb which my sister got for her wedding. And my blue was a heart cut out of my dad's jacket after he passed.

Sixpence is part of the saying. Scottish cousins sent me one dated from the 1930s. It's a sixpence not a penny!
