Something Blue - Catholic Wedding

Michelle, on April 28, 2018 at 8:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I had no idea that the something old, something new, something burrowed, something blue has meaning in the Catholic Church. The blue is in honor of Virgin Mary. I’ve been looking for some cute Toms (comfy shoes) to wear and was thinking white until I learned about the blue being linked to Mary. So now I plan to wear some blue Toms! Then I was trying to find the perfect blue. I remembered my grandma made me a picture of Mary for my first communion. My son thinks it looks like she is wearing Toms in the picture! Anyway, the Toms now have a special meaning for me that honor Virgin Mary and also remind me of my grandma and her love for Mary.

What other things do you know that are special traditions you are doing to make your day extra special? Bonus points if you include a picture!

I'll have the something new something old something borrowed and something blue but not sure of any of the reasons for the traditions. I just know my mom and fmil we're insistent on making sure I had all that covered lol

For the blue, I have I Do stickers for the bottoms of my shoes, my aunt is lending me her pearls, the new will be any of my gown, etc. Still not sure what I will do for the old. We will see! And as I am also having a Catholic wedding, I am doing a bouquet for the blessed mother.
