Some people aren't Rsvping for my wedding

Ashley, on June 13, 2019 at 1:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Our RSVP deadline is tomorrow for our wedding. I see my coworkers everyday and they've had 3 months to RSVP. On Monday, I told them at work that the deadline is Friday. They said thanks for the reminder and didn't RSVP. One person said thanks and then went on a week long vacation and won't be back until next Wednesday. I find it weird that they're not RSVPing after I've given them a reminder or two. I've also texted a friend reminding them the RSVP deadline is Friday, but I've gotten no response from them about that. I'm not sure what to do -- do I keep bothering them to RSVP if they don't RSVP by tomorrow, or do I just mark them as declined if they don't get back to me?

A lot of people wait til the last minute or some past the deadline. My coworkers all waited last minute too. It's such a common and annoying thing for people to be late at rsvp'ing or not rsvp'ing at all. I would usually give it some more time past the RSVP date and then reach out again and emphasize you need a final count

Once that date has passed, reach out and say "our RSVP deadline was Friday and I noticed we didn't receive yours. Our final head count is due on x date. If we don't hear from you by then, we will assume that you're unable to attend."

Yes, unfortunately, most people do not understand the importance of an RSVP for a wedding. They treat it like any other party, where RSVPs are not so strict. But for weddings, you need to give your caterer/venue an accurate head count, and usually the amount the bride and groom are responsible for is directly tied to the head count. So, you need to spell it out for them, as PPs have said above. We haven't received your RSVP, and our head count is due XX date. If we don't hear from you by then, we'll count you as a "no."

Remember too, if they send it back on Friday - the due date - it will take a few days to arrive in the mail.
