So how much can a wedding dress be taken in??ai

Hello!
I’ll start from the beginning. I ordered my wedding dress on 6/19 after visiting one bridal shop and trying on about 5-6 dresses (Stella York #6690 in ivory/almond for those who are interested). When i picked up the dress on 10/3 it fit like a glove in the bodice exept where I didn’t QUITE fill it out in the bust, but the waist was perfect. Since then I have lost about 21 pounds by following the ketogenic diet and I’m hoping to lose more. I tried on my dress tonight and I discovered that I can actually slip it on over my head without unzipping it.

    Oops! I posted too soon.

    When I bought my dress I wasn’t planning on losing weight. Had I been thinking ahead I would have sized down one or two sizes. I’m not a seamstress but my dress is a fairly simple silhouette. How many sizes do you guys think it may be able to be brought in? I haven’t seen a seamstress yet since my wedding isn’t until 7/2019. Thanks!

    I've heard most dresses can be taken in up to 4 sizes. Whether that's true or not, I'm not 100%.

    It really depends on the dress and how complex it is. I was told most dresses can safely go down 2 sizes. If there is a lot of detail in the bodice area it's only going to be able to go down so many sizes before it has to be completely rebuilt. Do you have a picture of the dress?

    I was told most dresses have a seam that will allow them to be easily taken in and out 2 inches either way (not sure how many sizes that is). I know they *can* do more than that, but depending on the material it wouldn’t look as good
