I am getting so sick and tired of people telling me that I shouldn't waist my money on a wedding!! I swear I hear it like once a week "that money could be put to better use" "if I had it to do over again...(insert reason here)" "weddings are alot of money for a party" Seriously people! None of you...

I am getting so sick and tired of people telling me that I shouldn't waist my money on a wedding!! I swear I hear it like once a week "that money could be put to better use" "if I had it to do over again...(insert reason here)" "weddings are alot of money for a party" Seriously people! None of you even know what I am actually spending on my wedding! for all you know I could have a 1000 dollar budget! I didn't ask for your oppiion anyway! And who the heck cares?! like really it's my money! I can do with it as I wish!!! I'm only getting married ONCE and I want to celebrate it with all the people I love, so yes I am going to spend money! It's the biggest party I'm ever going to throw! It's not like I'm advertising what I'm spending to people either. Sorry I just hadto vent...

I'm sure that in their own way they feel they're trying to help you out. The fact of the matter is, if you can afford the wedding you want, go for it. If you're not hearing input on what to spend on your wedding, you'll hear input on what's "appropriate" to do and have for your wedding. Just do you, and don't let frivilous things get you down. Happy planning!

I've also been told, mostly by the older generations, that we don't need to make such a big deal about it and to just elope. The sort of money we'd save would be useful to spend on other stuff, but it's my one day to be a princess! If I can afford to have the wedding of my dreams, I will.

I wonder if this is something more people are getting because they live together already? My sister has gotten that, but I haven't at all (FH and I, obviously, don't live together - not that I didn't want to! It just worked out better for me to live at home). It's frustrating for me and my sister. She's wanted the big wedding, but got pregnant and held it off....3 kids later still no wedding! And I have no kids, just wanted to elope, but have been peer pressured into having a traditional wedding. She's planning to elope, now, gave up on the wedding plan - we both got what the other one wanted. God has a weird sense of humor.

My mom told me AFTER 8 months of wedding planning that I could just forget the wedding and go get married in a courthouse and they would give me the money instead. First of all, that could have been offered before I pulled together a wedding and got into the details. the work is done and it is part of me now. Secondly, I am keeping the budget VERY reasonable. If I had known the money struggle would have been this bad I WOUld have eloped! sigh....
