So about that back cleavage...

Lori, on April 1, 2015 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

Ugh. So I had my first dress fitting on Monday (yay!) but looking at the pictures my mom took of my bustle, I've noticed the dreaded back cleavage. It's a low-ish-back dress, so my seamstress told me it had to be tight around the waist because there's really not much else to hold it up--the straps are for decoration, not support.

Any thoughts? I am working out/dieting but I don't even know if I can lose enough weight in time. The dress fits perfectly other than that and some minor changes with the keyhole back. Is this just something I'll have to deal with??

Have you tried to see what it looks like if you sat down, bent over, etc? Because that really doesn't look bad AT ALL and I think it's one of those things that only we as the bride would freak out and hate but nobody would even bat an eyelash at.

I think it looks amazing! However if you think you need to tone up I highly recommend the 21 day fix!

So "back cleavage" is not what you see in your picture lol. It would be higher on your back than your low back. What you're seeing is how your muscles are shaped for your body. Aside from continuing to work out and watch what you eat (ie losing weight overall), there's nothing you can do about this. But I also think you're seeing a problem that isn't there. Smiley winking You look good.

I think you look fantastic! However, if it makes you feel better, you can do back focused weight excercises, like reverse flies, all types of rows, pull ups, etc. Planks are great as well to target your whole core. I have a backless dress and will be focusing on those moves!

Oh Lori, that dress looks so wonderful on you!

My photographers did some kind of smoothing technique on me that helped but really you don't need much at all. You are going to be a most beautiful bride xox

Ah thanks guys! My mom said that it was all in my head, but I don't know. I think I'm even more paranoid because of the detail on the back of my dress so I want it to look amazing. Guess I'll just be planking all day, every day until the wedding Smiley smile And then on the wedding day I'll just force myself to forget about it--at least it's not something I can see!!

I really don't see much of anything - as I believe back cleavage is usually on the sides, and you have none of that. If you are talking about the small crease in the lower portion of your back (I barely see anything), it's really nothing to be worried about. If, however, it is something that is bothering you, you might try getting some tape (clothing tape - not scotch) and try to pull the sides forward towards your stomach (taping near the bottom outside of your back and pulling toward your front. Maybe that will help flatten it out? But really, I don't see much there - but I'm sure I have many insecurities that others don't see as well.

Your back looks like that because of muscles and skin--your dress looks fantastic and really highlights how gorgeous your back is. Deep breath, you look amazing!

Trust me-that is NOT what I think of when I think of back cleavage. I just saw a photo posted on FB where a girl is selling her wedding dress. Whoever laced her corset should be shot. It was SO tight and she had back cleavage that was horrible.

I think it's to the point that it's squeezing you a little, but you dont have to do anything drastic! I'ts mostly your muscles that I see. I would say just avoid salty foods the week of the wedding and you'll be good Smiley smile
