So 25 days away and my Wedding Band doesn't fit

Laura, on September 23, 2019 at 12:21 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 23

I get married in 25 days, and I just a few minutes ago found out my wedding band doesn't fit. I haven't gained weight, and it fit when I got it. It's also part of a set and the engagement ring fits, though my finger does seem a bit swollen and the ring only comes off with soapy water. I'm hoping it's water weight because of the crazy heat we had over the weekend here. I did notice my ankles swollen when I took my socks off yesterday. I will NOT freak out about this. What I will do is increase my water intake and watch the sodium in what I eat. I've been on a weight loss plan for a long time, had gastric sleeve surgery a few years ago. I just plan to buckle down and make sure it fits without starving myself. I will and can do this! I'm glad I am diligent about writing down what I eat and drink or i'd be flipping out. I'm proud of myself for not crying and having a breakdown about it this close to the wedding. I'll keep you posted.

Time to increase the distance and or time on my daily walks too!

There are days where my ring feels so tight on my finger and other days where it's loose. So I guess on the day to day basis it could change

You’re doing the right thing by not freaking out. For sure you’re swollen. On the coming up days avoid anything with sodium such as salt and soy sauce. Drink lots of water and you’ll be fine.

So nerve wracking!! I work in a jewelry store and see this type of thing on a daily basis. Our fingers change size every day and also change depending on the time of day. I would suggest using a little Windex to help get your rings on and off. It helps lubricate and soften your fingers without leaving any sort of residue like soap can. Your wedding band is gorgeous btw!! Good luck!!

It could be swollen from salty food, from the weather, from a ton of things. I gave my FH one of his wedding bands early and the day he tried it on it fit perfect and a few days after that it didn’t fit him from then on. I ordered another ring half a size up and that one fits him, but the band for the ceremony which is the new size also, fits a little tighter. Rings are weird. Finger sizes change all the time, so maybe give it another day or two. I’ve also heard as the PP said that windex helps!

I already avoid as much sodium as I can, i'm on blood pressure medication and my body definitely lets me know when i've had to much. No eating out for me for a bit so I can control that better.

I'll give that a try if it comes to it, thank you very much! Thank you. I love the band, My fiancee thinks it's to plain, but he did really great picking out the set, and I just assured him that the engagement ring is so stunning that the band accentuates it

I'm really glad i'm not a salty food person in general. I watch sodium pretty closely because I am on blood pressure medication. I plan to not eat out for awhile so I can control it better. Rings are definitely weird.

I know when it gets really warm outside or I’m doing a lot of work, my hands swell like balloons and they hurt so bad! Keep drinking water and don’t stress about it!
Worst case scenario, have on some extra slippery hand cream lol

You could try icing your finger lightly before the ceremony? My ring fits snug too when I get too warm.

I may have to do that. I'm hoping now that I know I can work on taking care of it. I am glad I checked today so I have time to fix it

I feel your pain!! I'm coming up on my 5 year gastric bypass surgery anniversary. I've noticed more this summer that I have really been holding onto fluids. This last week has been crazy hot here and I constantly feel like my hands are swollen. We also just bought our first house and I've been doing a lot of work outside and around the house. I've started going to bed with ice packs on my hands and that seems to help. Also keeping my hands well hydrated with a good lotion has also helped. Hope everything works out for you!❤❤❤

Thank you! I just had my 3rd anniversary. i'm actually going back to the center tomorrow and walking in a 5K with other patients of the center. It was the best medical decision i've ever made for myself. I plan to keep my hands well lotioned lol

Same here!! My only regret is not doing it sooner. I still struggle, but over all I FEEL a million times better and I'm able to do things I would never in a million years dream of doing.

Me too. It's helped me in ways more than just weight and health. I was in a dead-end 13 year relationship with a very nice guy who had zero interest in marrying me or furthering our relationship. It was a long-distance thing with me doing most of the visiting. If not for the surgery I wouldn't have had the guts to ask him what we were doing. I wouldn't have accepted when my now FH asked me to dinner and I wouldn't be getting married. I was stuck and ok with it. I even took a ride in a monster truck! wouldn't have done that before

That sounds like me!!! Only my ex wasn't a nice guy, but our relationship wasn't going anywhere. We had been engaged for 8ish years, and I had accepted that I wasn't supposed to be happy. I had seen so many of my friends meet guys and get married and they all had stable, secure relationships. I wanted that, I didn't want to have to lay in bed at night and wonder why I wasn't good enough. I was 2 weeks from Turing 25 and I had went to the dr over my sleep apnea, the dr was blunt. He told me that if something drastic didn't change I was not going to live to see 30. My sleep apnea was so bad it was killing me. I went home that night and started researching, that's when I realized other things had to change. So I left him, it, it was hard but the best thing I did. I found myself and he was totally against my surgery. I didn't need that negative attitude or the abuse.

The amount of change in my hands between cold and hot is CRAZY. I have a 6 - if its a normal day it fits fine but a tad loose. If its a little chilly i can't keep it from facing down and i'm fighting to keep the diamond upright. if its hot my hands are so swollen it feels tight! Its insane. I'm sure you will do just fine! you're doing so great with everything just keep trying it on every few days and see how it works. If anything doesn't change and it gets too close, go to the jeweler and see if they have any explanation. Smiley kiss

We have to get my FH ring resized as well. I was in town when the call came in that his ring was ready to be picked up! So he wasn't with me to check out the size. Hopefully it'll be a smooth process to resize it.

What time of day did you try putting it on? If it was the morning, your fingers are always swollen in the morning (and sometimes late at night too!) so if that was the case, I'd try again midday. I sleep in my rings and when I wake up in the morning I literally cannot get them off. If I didn't sleep in them and if I tried to put them on in the morning, I would sure not be able to.

Also, I recommend having a discussion with your FH about this for the ceremony... I was worried if I was hot during the ceremony that my fingers may be swollen and what if he couldnt get the ring on. We talked about it in advance and I told him if he couldn't get it over my knuckle to just put it on my pinky finger. It ended up being fine, but it's just good to have a backup plan for peace of mind in case you're swollen on wedding day!
