Our photographer suggested this too, she suggested after we eat and everyone else is still eating dinner.

I have noticed that too with some wedding photos and I personally think they look great! But, I didn't know people did that until recently but, who knows my photographer might grab us and get some good evening photos and I wouldn't mind!

We will probably sneak out. Our venue is against a lake, and I want sunset pictures. There's also a fountain that lights up at night (if I remember correctly) that I want pictures in front of.

We plan on doing this, but we will only be gone about 15 mins. I really want night shots outside in front of the mansion.

We did to get our snow picture...it was freezing and messed up my hair but worth it. We also snuck away to just be alone for a few minutes. ETA: add pic

We did it. It was while everyone was eating, no one even noticed.

I didn't do this, but as a guest I have no idea even if the B&G's have done this! So I think it's fine to go ahead with the idea Smiley smile

Our venue was in a really weird place with a ugly outdoor setting.

I didn't even think of this! I love it though. I'm sure my photographer planned on it, she thinks of everything.

I love Emmy's pic too! Gorgeous!

Kind of on a related note- is it customary everywhere for the wedding party to steal the bride and groom at some point? Or is that just a small town Iowa thing?

We sneaked out for about 15 min when the reception was in full swing and everyone was dancing. No one even noticed us gone and we only had 115 ppl there.

Yes and I totally recommend it. Your guests will be partying, so 10 minutes won't even phase them.

I didn't do this, but at my friend's wedding last summer the photographer grabbed the couple right around sunset to get some nice pictures then. They were gone for about 20 min or so. It was during the meal so most people didn't notice.

As long as it's while people are eating or socializing then they probably won't notice you step out for a few minutes.

I am totally sneaking out. At night, the room as huge windows and with the blue uplighting, from the outside looks AMAZING and we are going to take a picture out there with everyone inside dancing away, having not a clue that we will be in the gardens and the room will be our background. Smiley smile

We ate first, so while others were eating we snuck out for sunset pics....and they were awesome!

ETA: Only the people near the windows noticed because they saw us and actually commented that they enjoyed it!

I have heard of this. we didn't need to do it because of how we did photos and it was dark after the reception started.

i did have to sneak off upstairs during the reception to pack up all my stuff in the bridal suite and get it ready for our DOC to carry out to the limo for us. lol.

it's fine. as long as there are drinks and dancing going on, people will be fine missing you for a few minutes.

We are doing this for some sunset photos. The photographer will be taking us during dinner for about 20 minutes during our hour long dinner service. I love the photos with darker lighting and we won't be missing much.
