The cruise ship agreed to no alcohol? I don't see that happening, how would they make money? 😂 Provide alcohol because they will bring alcohol of their own, and worse case they leave the area of your reception to go to the cruise bars and get their drinks.

It will make the event funner too-- people tend to not dance if there is no alcohol. Just make sure to let the bartenders know do not over serve

You can't stop them from trying to bring alcohol. In all honesty, most people will end up drinking quite a bit before your wedding and show up drunk in attempt to make up for the lack of alcohol they will get to enjoy the rest of the night. Good bartenders do their job and know when to cut people off. Our venue has a strict rule that no shots are allowed to help keep it from getting out of hand. Most venues that we looked at also mentioned that if things did get out of hand and property was destroyed they had the right to get cops involved and press charges.

I think you should give your family and friends the chance to act like adults and handle their liquor.

Alcohol is one of the most important parts of a celebration for a lot of folks. I’m not a drinker myself, and I ALWAYS have at least 1 at a wedding. It’s much easier to loosen up/ dance/ mingle that way for the very vast majority of people.

so yeah, I’d say poorly planned.

Yes OK but now since you are serving alcohol it should be fine, right?

I'm so confused by this wedding. People are staying at a hotel across the street, boarding the ship for a (presumably short) wedding, then returning to the hotel while you and your FH sail away? And if they're staying at the hotel, I assume they're traveling from *somewhere*.

You cant control this. There are TONS of bars on a cruise ship, and being your getting married on the ship you all have 1st access to everything including bars. So you tell everyone not to sneak alcohol on...........they go to the bar right outside the reception room and bring it in or they bring the party to the bar. It doesn't sound like their sneaking it on for your reception, it sounds like they don't want to pay $9.50 for a cruise ship drink, so their sneaking it on for the actual cruise. Here's my other thought, when boarding a cruise everyone goes through the same security clearance, their not going to be able to carry it in their hands, so they will have to put it in their luggage. Me personally, I dont live by a cruise port so that means all my guest would be traveling to get there, spending their money on transportation, the cruise etc.......................the least I could do is let them drink on the ship. Im sure its a big boat...maybe they will get lost on the other end of it and you wont have to worry about that.

Have good bartenders who can watch alcohol consumption. Serve lots of food. Have lots of dancing/activities going on to distract everyone from focusing on their drinking so much.

    Have good security.

It's your wedding. Do what you want.

I personally am not having alcohol at my wedding. 90% of my guests do not drink alcohol. Therefore, it would be a waste of money for me to spend a small fortune on it.

Unfortunately, unless you are going to search every guest here is not anything you can do. Your guest should respect your wishes for a dry wedding.
