Sneaking Alcohol To My Reception!!!😑😑😑😑😑

Brittany, on March 7, 2018 at 10:57 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 60
So I’m having a dry bar(I know bummer) for my wedding reception. I overheard a couple of my in laws thinking of ideas to sneak alcohol to our wedding reception. (FYI: Wedding reception is on the cruise ship). What can I do or look for to make sure no one sneaks alcohol in the boat. Some people are attending the cruise after and some are going home.

Nothing? This is a risk you run with a dry wedding.

You can't do anything. This is one of the consequences of a dry bar.

You’re hosting a reception on a cruise and you’re having a dry wedding? Of course people are going to want alcohol. You’re wedding is the start of their vacation.

I’ve never been to a dry wedding because everyone I know hosts an open bar but I know people who would do that if they were invited to an event with no alcohol. I suggest offering a limited bar or consumption bar. It’s not right to not offer alcohol to adults who choose to drink.

You’ll have to hire some big men to thoroughly frisk every guest before they enter. Strip searches, maybe.

    No no fun allowed!!!

Host with alcohol and no one will sneak alcohol on board.

When everyone boards the ship, you can have a sign that says β€œput your fun away.”

Strip searches??? I think that's a bit much. I'm sure the couple can just breathalyzer each guest hourly...

Obviously you're going to have them either way because they'll sneak it on.

There's nothing you can do about it

It's your party. If they become intoxicated, have someone escort them out. If alcohol is more important than your special day, I would seriously consider "un-inviting them". I am not having a bar at all.

β€œI’m trying to satisfy everybody”- not if you don’t serve alcohol you aren’t.

Make everyone turn their pockets out and walk through a metal detector before they come in? Everyone take a brethalyzer test every hour or they get thrown overboard?

Any attempt to control the behavior of grown adults will result in frustration, and people are going to do what they want anyway.

Provide it and they won't need to.

Re: Rowdy family. At least if it's hosted and controlled by licensed bartenders they will shut people off if they get "rowdy." (And seriously, what are they, 12?) If they bring their own they will have no control.

FFS If I came I would bring my own too, ESPECIALLY if I'm going to be trapped on a boat and can't leave when I get bored. Which wouldn't take long, if there is no drinks.
