Sneakers under the dress?

MrsW, on January 10, 2016 at 5:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

So I picked up my dress yesterday (!!!!) and even though I ordered the petite, its super long and will def need to be hemmed. I originally bought kitten heels to wear because tore a tendon in my hip socket and I am waiting till the week after my wedding to have surgery. Because of this, I'm contemplating wearing Sketchers Shape-Ups (remember those?) they have a 3" platform foam heel that will not only help with the *massive* height difference between me and FH (he's 6'4 and I'm 5'1) but I think they will also give me the support and comfort I'll need to be standing for a million hours. Have you all heard of brides wearing sneakers on their day? TIA!

I plan on wearing converse Smiley smile I say wear what you want. No one will see them and most brides end up ditching their heels for flats during the reception which require fixing their dress to fit both shoes. Comfy bride =happy bride Smiley smile

There are brides that do, usually they do converse. Definitely not my thing, I can't imagine wearing sneakers with such an expensive piece of formalwear, and would probably find really supportive flats in your situation, but there's been plenty of brides who have done it. It's totally up to you.

I'm wearing Converse all day. They're about all that fit my size 11 feet. Plus mine go perfectly with my dress!

@cathy exactly and I actually spent more on my shoes than my dress so it seems alright to me. It's really hard to find comfortable shoes for me.

As long as you're comfy in it, go for it. Not my style, but I'm a 5 inch heels sorta girl.

I honestly hate sneakers under gowns. This is the one day of your life to NOT wear sneakers. I wore sandals and they were just as comfortable.

I'm wearing converse on my wedding day (as is FH). Who's really going to see your feet unless you show off your shoes or something. Wear whatever you want and is comfortable for you.

My wedding is in the mountains in the middle of winter so I decided I would wear Uggs! I am so excited because it's something I can keep and wear more than once!!

Go for it! You need to be comfortable, especially with the medical issue. I'm thinking of switching into my converses from our engagement session for the reception. Smiley smile.

OMG you guys are AWESOME!! You totally gave me life just now!! I feel the same way - no one will see them unless I show them off.. and truthfully, I probably will because I am SUCH a sneaker girl that I have one pair of heels and I cant even remember the last time I used them! Even my cute boots are Sketchers shapeup BOOTS!! And everyone loves them and no one thinks they're sneakers... but secretly they are!! SO glad there are other girls like me out there! :-D Thanks for all the tips and the places to look! I will check back with my final purchase! :-D

To all the Converse brides - woo hoo!!! FH and I and our entire wedding party will be wearing Chucks ... the girls will be in silver ones, the guys either black or anything I can find that is as close to sapphire blue as possible. FH and I will be wearing custom Bride & Groom ones. Smiley smile LOVE THEM!!! Plus we're both super short and every one of my bridesmaids is much taller than me and they all LOVE the idea of wearing comfortable shoes!

I totally understand the medical problem. I have a weak ankle and can't wear heels. I did consider wearing converse, but ended up deciding to probably go with flats. I don't see anything wrong with wearing sneakers though. I say go for it.

I'm wearing keds from Kate Spade's line. They're rose gold glitter and super cute. My dress is huge and I just wanted to wear something cute and comfortable.
