I am a former smoker. I thankfully quit cold turkey over 7 years ago after watching my godfather die from Pulmonary Fibrosis. I met my fiance 1 year after I quit. He was very honest, saying his ex smoked during their marriage and since his dad has COPD, that was a deal breaker. My mother also has COPD and I agreed I had NO desire to smoke EVER again (watching my godfather slowly die over a couple months was pretty traumatic). I'm proud to say I'm still smoke free and can't even stand the smell of it now.

Deal breaker! I really wouldn't be comfortable if FH was an avid smoker because it's self-destructive

Not a huge issue. FH smokes periodically. Not excessively. So it's not a huge issue.

Deal breaker. . . I get it's a hard one to break but if trying I could deal for a little while as long as it's progressing less and less

Definitely a deal breaker. I’m allergic to cigarette smoke and it kills my asthma.

Before I went out with him, it was a huge deal breaker. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke...ick

So....he still smokes....not inside, not in the car, not around me and he's quitting before the wedding.

    Deal breaker!

So gross! So bad for your health and those around you!

Also, I get massive headaches from smoke, so ... yeah, no. Thankfully, FH hates smoke, too.

Deal breaker! I have asthma, it’s unhealthy, it stinks and it’s a waste of money.

Deal breaker for me! I hate people who smoke and I am an asthmatic. I'm sorry, smoking doesn't make you look cute or sexy it's just disgusting in my opinion!

It used to be a deal breaker for me, before I started dating hubby. We had known each other 5 years before dating, so I knew he smoked, but he never smoked around me (I have asthma and allergies), so I could overlook it. He tried to quit before the wedding, and he made it a full 6 months, but then his grandma died, and his job got really stressful, and he started again. He's currently having trouble quitting, but he is trying. He still doesn't smoke around me, and now that we live in the same house, he doesn't smoke on his weeks home. (He works in the oilfield; two weeks on, one week off. He's home only on his weeks off.)

Long story short, if he hadn't been willing to quit from the beginning, it might have stayed a deal breaker. As it is, he is trying, and for now that's good enough for me.

I would have to say deal breaker! I can't stand the smell and I'm surrounded by it at work ALL THE TIME! I work in a casino and it just reeks. My grandma smokes cigs and whenever I got clothes as gifts from her, smoke would just pop out from the boxes.
