Hey Halle! I’m so sorry that you are having such a hard time planning your wedding.

This is your wedding and you should plan to do whatever it is that will make you and your FS happiest. If you want to wear your beautiful dress and get married at the courthouse, then that is exactly what you should do.

Your mom is trying to help and offer solutions but if you don’t want to have a small church ceremony, you don’t have to.

Have you chosen a reception venue to host your 50 guests at?

I think you should discuss your plans with your FS and figure out exactly what type of ceremony would make you both happiest on your day.

Hey, I'm having an "in-between" ceremony. We also were going to go to the courthouse but decided to have it at our church on a Friday afternoon. Our couple mentors really pushed us to have a church office ceremony. Basically the same as a courthouse but at the church and more religious focused.

We're having about 30 guests which is literally my closest family and friends. We went back and forth between what we wanted to do and the fact of the matter is you can do whatever you want. We decided that I'm going to walk down the aisle and have it traditional. But we could have also done it very non traditional like my sister did. She had us help her get ready then all the women walked with her to meet her fiance who was standing with the pastor at the alter. We all stood instead of sat during the short ceremony then we all went to dinner.

I was going to the courthouse until family and friends found out and started inviting themselves to a wedding that was not planned. I was scrambling trying to find an affordable venue, food and drinks on short notice for 50 people. I mention my dilemma to a coworker (just venting) that I had known for years and learned her husband managed a lounge. She advise I could hold my wedding and reception there no charge. That was a life saver. She also gave a great price for food and alcohol that is costing my under $1000. Keep asking around for ideals and you will surely find the help you need. I never would have know if I didn't ask.
