Small chest problems :/

Patricia, on July 27, 2016 at 10:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I went to my final fitting yesterday and the dress fit great. Finally the right length and everything. I do have a small problem. The dress has boning in it and so the bust of the dress has enough room in it to fill a C- possibly D cup. I am unfortunately a B and with the back being so low I cant wear a strapless bra to pull up my chest and fill the space. She put in push up cups but even with that I feel like if someone taller than me was next to me they could see the huge space between my chest and the dress. The woman doing the alterations said that if she pulled in the top I wouldn't be able to function freely and I wouldn't look natural. I just want to know if anyone has had this issue and if you found a solution.

I had that issue as well. I also have a low back so there's no way I could wear a bra. My seamstress is bringing in the top more so there isn't a gap. I have my next fitting next Friday so hopefully it's perfect by then! They definitely should be able to fix rhat

Without seeing the dress, I don't know if this would work (or if it'd work anyway), but could your seamstress add a long-line bra (minus the back) to your dress? You might get more of the push-up effect from that than from just the cups. Just my two cents. :-)

Popping in to follow because I'm 90% sure I'll have this issue... A cup here Smiley sad

Sometimes I think I'll just walk around all night with my chest thrust out to prevent any gapping or slippage.

Here is a picture of the dress from when I first tried it on. You can see the bust size. does it look really unnatural? The top looks the same because not much needed to be brought in

I'm not there yet with my dress but I didn't think this would be a problem. I don't understand why your seamstress said if she tries to fix it it won't look right. I'm following!!

For a sec I thought this was about a potential heart attack based on the title

I have this problem as well, I'm having my seamstress take out the padding around the boning entirely and dart the breasts so I don't look/ feel unnatural. She was concerned about me looking flat and I told her I am flat and I'm proud of it! Having that extra poof would make me feel fake.

VC haha thankfully not. I wish there were a way to make the chest smaller on the dress. But I assume that could mess up the shape of the dress? I'm no seamstress so I don't have a clue.

OurAdventureBegins let me know how it goes. I don't want to make a mistake taking anything out.

So my dress had a lower back too but I had sleeves.. sorta. I don't know how my seamstress did it, but the way she brought in the back part made it so I didn't have to add cups or anything to the bust. I was an A when I got married.

ETA: You could also try something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Fetoo%C2%AE-invisible-bra-Pure-Nude/dp/B019FD79MO/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1469634607&sr=1-2&nodeID=14333511&keywords=sticky+bra

I don't think it looks unnatural or anything like that on you! You could maybe get a 2nd opinion but I'm generally in the camp of trust the seamstress.

Thanks Heather. I'm sure she wouldn't want to miss out on additional charges.

@OP I think the dress looks wonderful, and not unnatural at all! You could totally pull it off without fussing with the bust.

I think it looks great! Nothing unnatural about the shape of the dress/chest area. You know your body better than anyone. So listen to your gut and do what you will enjoy at the end of the day.

Thank you everyone!! It's nice to see others opinions. My family probably wouldn't tell me the truth in fear of hurting my feelings.

I think it looks nice. But if you still feel uncomfortable let your seamstress know.

I don't think it looks strange or unnatural at all. Have you considered a sticky bra, or having even a regular push up bra seen into the dress rather than just the cups? That might give you more padding and make you more comfortable than not having it.

Double-sided body tape or costume adhesive spray. Having used both, when applied properly, I feel more secure when using the spray adhesive. It seems to last longer, too.

I'm barely a B-cup. I wrote a bridesmaid dress that had boning ans I didn't want to pay to reduce the top. I had cups sewn in and wrote a padded bra. I ended up looking like a D. I thought I looked bizarre, but no one else thought it looked unnatural. I realized it looked unnatural to me because I was used to seeing myself a B cup. It could be something similar happening here. You feel weird, but none of us think it looks odd.

I think the adhesive inserts might help along with the cups. might bring a couple options with me when I go the next time.
