Small ceremony in a big church?

Miss Michal, on September 25, 2010 at 7:31 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

FH and I belong to the Cathedral parish, but we were looking around for a smaller church in which to get married because we'll only have about 35 people there (the guest list seems to grow every day, but never mind). As cathedrals go, ours isn't huge, but it can still hold several hundred people and will look a little sparse with just a few. That said, the cathedral is not only our church, but a major backdrop for our relationship. I can safely say that we fell in love in that building. So, we're thinking we would prefer to have our wedding in the cathedral, even though it will be a wee bit empty. Thoughts?

Go for it - it's beautiful! Just have your guests sit mostly along the aisles, rather than having lots of people in the front pews. That will have people present in your down the aisle pictures.

Absolutely do it, it means something to you and that is what it should be about... and what better place to start your new life than where you fell in love Smiley smile

Do it! Since you guest list will be small, they can be in the first 2-3 rows. That is place that is special to your relationship- why would you not get married there just because it's big?

IT is beautiful, one thought, is there a side chapel or sacristy that might be a better size, most cathedrals would have something like that?
