Small budget nj Weddings - let's talk!

Kara, on April 13, 2018 at 4:45 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 14

We're having a 50 person wedding for under $15k (hopefully WELL under that!!). We're getting married this fall, 9/29/18 in Ocean Grove, NJ. I'd love to talk to other brides about vendors, managing on a tight budget, etc.

My current quandry is finding a florist and keeping it $1k or less for flowers. We don't have bridesmaids or groomsmen so that helps. Just a flower girl and ring bearer, along with our parents and us for floral needs. Then I'd like some flowers for the tables at the reception. Our ceremony is on the beach. Not sure we can swing an arch or ceremony flowers (how does that work on the sand anyway??).

Any other small wedding budget brides out there? I'd love to talk!

80 guests, 15k budget, looking at closer to 16 all said and done. We're skipping the florist and doing our own artificial flowers. Saves money and that means I get to keep my bouquet forever ♡

Have you checked Sams Club for flowers? I'm in NJ and florists are crazy around here but they have some beautiful packages! I think that's what I am going to do. They have pre-made collections or you could DIY but I'm not very crafty.

I am getting married in August at the Sheraton hotel in Lincoln Harbor. My budget is $10k, and so far we are only over by $600 and we are trying to keep it that way. We pretty much have everything, but someone to video tape the event. So far these prices are too much. We have 4 bridesmaids and a maid of honor, same for the men.. Two ring boys and two flower girls. We are not doing major decorations, though.. Just centerpieces at the table. Oh and we have about 110 guests.

    Hi Kara!

I suggest checking out Amore Weddings LLC in Hawthorne, NJ. They do a mix of artificial rentals & fresh flowers (if you choose). The flowers photograph amazing & you don't have the stress of DIYing anything - which unless you're already a crafty person, really doesn't have price when you're dealing with so many other things! I'm sure you'll get everything you need within your budget - maybe less! I hope you use them Smiley smile We're using them for our Nov wedding.

    Good luck!

    I also have a 15k budget.
I found the pros for DJ Ans photo to be the cheapest in the area.
And Pantagis Renaissance one of the most affordable venues with lots of value included

Costco also has an awesome selection of flowers. I’m currently vetting florists, too. Not doing artificial just because they can sometimes be as expensive—if not more—than real...especially if you get really nice fake flowers.

Good luck and congratulations! Smiley smile

You can rent candles as a center pieces for the tables. I'm doing that instead of having flowers on the table.

Hi Kara. congrats to you! I am doing a small wedding in Northern , NJ. You may want to google Costco wedding Flowers. They have packages that are quite affordable. https://www.costco.com/wedding-event-flowers.html

Also, (don't laugh) Shoprite and Wegmans have expanded their floral departments and many are doing weddings now. Definitely worth a look....Good luck and congrats!

I'm just pricing a few things out but we r doing a party for our 5 year renewal as we never had an actual wedding
never wanted a big wedding anyway but w two kids a house and everything else it would just be unreasonable
budget I put together puts me at $18k got 65 ppl in Bergen county .. then I narrowed down what I can compromise on - and it's down to $13k. Let's hope I'm realistic. Lol but I agree w the gals on here that things like flowers are absolutely fine to cut down. We are also having our friend do the ceremony. And I'll be looking into either used or sample dresses. And we won't have a dj unless we find some college student who does this as a hobby. Instead of open bar top shelf liquor we r doing wine and beer. And buffet instead of sit down. There r ways to cut expenses.
my gf who got married on a very low budget (and he wedding was great) told me to never worry about impressing others. Or accommodating others too much. For example she isn't a drinker so she did a cash bar lol some ppl were iffy about it but everyone still drank and she saved thousands. Nobody ever remembers that but they remember how gorgeous she looked on her wedding day

Try http://bloominous.com/ for the flowers. DIY but they send a recipe card/how to for each bouquet. Very reasonable and you can just buy bunches of flowers through their farmers market tab.
