Potluck receptions are also blessed by Pinterest. It doesn't make it ok. Just have the cake & punch reception at a non-meal time and you're good.

With under 30 people I won't need a full on caterer. I won't have brides maids or grooms men. There will be no dancing, no speeches, no registries, no bachelorette/bachelor parties, no showers, no save the dates, no engagement photos. And I can't very well book things when our date is TBD due to FH work schedule for all of 2018 not being released until 2nd week of Jan and kids summer custody schedule being provided by Feb 1 by the non custodial parent. We are older established people who are closer to being empty nesters than we are to stuck in kid mode.

And crap I get out of work at 3:30 everyday! 8 hrs a day. Dinner to cook and kids sports to get to.

So you grew up in the era of proper hosting and still don't think you need food? For shame! I had 30 people over for Father's Day and I got it fully catered. It cost under $300 and we had leftovers. And it took me 5 min to make the call and place the order

@smox we haven't ruled out a meal entirely but we still have months to decide on that.

more $ on honeymoon less money on wedding! Like double on honeymoon. Lol

Oh, so there it is. We want a great honeymoon, so we will screw over our guests and not host them properly.

Next thing you will tell us that you are having a Honeyfund.

    This just keeps getting worse.

OMG! You are the cake and punch at 6:30 bride! What do you have against feeding your fucking guests? Do you invite people over to your home for dinner and give them crackers and cheese? For fuck's sake, feed your guests. Give them BBQ, give them tacos, give them pasta and salad, but give them a full fucking meal!

Actually I have attended to wedding expo things and 2 times it was suggested a registry for honeymoon money. I straight up told those people -that is horrible. We ask nothing of our guests. Come support us that's it. If you don't like our marriage, our wedding day plans, our beliefs... whatever... don't come then.

    Wedding Expos = money grabs.

If you are not prepared to properly host your guests, feed and provide beverages for them for the appropriate time of day, elope or scale back your guest list.

The only useful thing I got out of this thread is that I need to hang out with Kathy and wine taste how she does. Because no dinner at 6:30 is about the silliest thing I've ever heard in my life.

OP, why don't you just elope and then go on an extravagant honeymoon? My friends just did that. Went to Bora Bora and are going to elope at the court house next week

@Red2018, you are welcome to wine taste with me anytime. :-)

This was a Thanksgiving Weekend wine tasting.....the candy corn is for decoration...under the tea lights.

"Summer weddings are the least popular here"

Yeah, because no one wants to go to an outdoor wedding in Texas in July. It's like how summer is off season in AZ, because no one wants to be outside in the blazing heat.
