Does it matter which side shoe you put it in? left or right?

I didn't know how to get a six-pence, so I taped a shiny, new penny inside my shoe.

I'm doing it. But it has to be from before a specific date or its not a true silver sixpence.

ETA: I believe before 1914 is true silver. I'm getting mine from ebay!

Not doing it. Just an extra thing and it would be uncomfortable having that stuff in my shoe....

It is a real one. the ones before 1914 are like 98% silver I believe. It all depends on what you are ok with! I'm very superstitious so I'm not taking chances!

I have one thats actually from England! My grandma had family bring it back from a vacation. I was still a baby, but she was planning ahead :0).... I believe you put it your left shoe for good luck and definitly tape it down. Its a great piece to pass down to your kids too.

They have also been seen as a lucky charm for brides. There is an old rhyme which goes "Something old, something new / Something borrowed, something blue / And a sixpence for her (left) shoe."

David Bridal have them for $12.00

Amazon have them starting from $7.00 & up

As other's said the amount of silver depends on when it was minted.

    Have you tried ebay?

I wasn't going to but my grandpa passed away in March and he had this lucky lottery scratcher with a penny in it so I plan on popping the penny out and using it.
