I have a son from another relationship too, but he is going to be my ring bearer. But i do love the idea especially since your son is older. My FH is actually going to say vows to my son after we say our vows and exchange rings. He is going to present him with a neckalace with a four leaf clover in it since we are getting married on St. Patty's day and also to symbolize that we are lucky to have each other!

He goes back and forth with it one day he does the next he wants to stand up front with FH and the groomsmen he is our Jr Groomsmen but he is very excited....I think he will decide that day or that week...he's only 7

I like the idea also, I am in the same boat with my son and like Sona my fiance is saying vows to my son also along the lines of I promise to accept you as my own son, support your individuality and protect you with all I am etc...

Yup, my FH is saying mostly the same stuff to my son! I know there wont be one dry eye in the place, cause it is mostly a surprise to all the guest.

When I was 12 my mom got remarried and did the same thing as Sona did. Me and my stepdad had our own vows. We did not say "I do" though. Since that is something between the ones getting married. But we both said "Yes". I am 20 now and I can tell you it was a very special thing between me and him. And i love that they included me in the wedding.

So including your kids some how in the wedding, I think is a great idea. Its something that they will cherish forever. I know I sure do

I got tears in my eyes thinking about it, I have a son from a previous relationship. although my son is only three I am trying to think of a special role for my son to play in our wedding, that is a great Idea..maybe i will do what you are doing it would be soo cute

My brother walked my mom down the aisle when she married by stepdad and then we both stood on her side. Granted, my brother was 17 at the time but I think regardless of his age he still would have. He was always very protective of my mother. When the pastor asked who gives this women to be married to this man my brother replied with "my sister and I". It was very sweet.

I'm actually thinking of having my two sons give me away next year, they are 22 & 17 and my father is no longer living. This is a 2nd marriage for me and they both are the most important male figures in my life.

All 3 of my children will walk with me.
