Silicone wedding bands

So I’m not much of a jewelry person. My favorite earrings are simple gold circles, and that is the only jewelry I wear daily.
My fiancé and I purchased silicone rings which were super affordable, but when we [excitedly] showed my parents they both said “THATS your ring??” And they were shocked that we weren’t going to get nicer, precious metal rings.
Is It really necessary to get gold/silver nice rings? Did anyone else just stick with the affordable silicone rings and do you regret that choice?

We have silicone bands to wear in situations where our actual wedding bands could be lost or damaged. My wife has gone through a few of them since they can rip after some wear. So if you’re sentimental at all and want to be able to keep the rings that you put on each other’s hands on your wedding day, I would consider another option. If you don’t care about that, go for it!

It's not necessary to get metal rings, it's simply preference. I plan on getting a silicone band for traveling.

FH originally wasn't going to get a metal band because he works as an assembler and does wiring quite often. He wants to wear a band at all times so we decided on silicone. A few weeks ago he decided he wants a metal one too so he ended up getting a metal band for special occasions/all the times he's not at work!
I would say if you don't want them and it's not your style, don't spend the money on it because you'll NEVER think it was worth the money!

We had our regular rings but we wear silicone rings for traveling, sports, gym, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. If you like the silicone ring, that's fine! If you want something else, you could always look at Etsy or Amazon. They have metal ones that aren't diamonds so very affordable.
