Silhouette Ideas

My sister just got a Silhouette machine (similar to a Cricut, I guess). We are both new to using it. Show us your DIY ideas that we could do! We're interested in making the bridesmaid & groomsmen gifts, décor, and invites, etc with it! Any insider tips/tricks too are greatly appreciated.

I’m using my Cricut to cut everyone’s name in gold vinyl and putting them on champagne glasses to serve as their place setting at the table as well as their favor to take home. I’m also going to cut the word cards for the card box. I’m going to cut a stencil and use etching cream to make mine and fh champagne glasses. I’m going to also create and etch some glass vases that I’ve already glittered the bottom half of. I’m probably going to use them for the bouquet holders. I used it to make some cards to request my bridesmaids. I know I’ll use it for more but that’s what I can think of at the moment to share.

Thanks so much for sharing! I’m excited to see how etching on glass will go, that’ll be huge for gifts.

I have a cricut... My tip is to practice cutting on paper first. I always cut my item out on paper before I use the vinyl. Paper is way cheaper than vinyl.

I am planning to make my invites and most likely envelopes with my cricut. I'm going to cut and paste different layers for the invite. I'm considering using the cricut to address the envelopes.

I'm also going to monogram some of the centerpiece stuff like some of the candle holders. We are using glass jars like those Oiu yogurt jars and pickle jars so I think monogram will jazz it up a bit.

I'm planning on making signs for parking and Welcome signs as well as a timeline. On either wood slabs or mirrors or a mixture of both. I'm going to make stuff for our photobooth and menu cards for the tables..

I've been telling everyone I'm having a cricut wedding. I guess I better get started on some stuff!

I love my silhouette. It's super old now and I kind of want to upgrade. I don't have any photos because I haven't made anything super recently. I've made lots of signage (I'm planning on using vinyl letters on a mirror for our welcome sign), wine glass and coffee mug decals (full names, monograms, etc.), shirts with heat transfer vinyl, intricate cards for special occasions, cupcake toppers..there's so much you can do. Facebook has a bunch of silhouette groups for inspiration!! Good luck!

I'm using my mom's cricut to make my wedding bouquets and a lot of my decor.
