Signature Drink Ideas

Ashley, on February 7, 2018 at 5:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 28
Hi Everyone!!

What are you offering for signature drinks? Just looking for ideas and cute names.

Also, FH wants to do a Long Island as his “signature drink” but what do you think? I told him to strongly think about it because I don’t want people to get too wasted with that particular drink and would much rather do a jack and coke drink or an old fashioned. Be honest! I know people could order a Long Island if they’d like but I don’t want to “advertise” them since they have so much alcohol content, or should I just say whatever and let him pick that one! (For anyone who doesn’t know, a Long Island iced tea is basically a mix of vodka, light rum, tequila, triple sec, and maybe coke? It tastes really good, but is very dangerous)

For the girly drink I was thinking some type of margarita, or maybe a vodka lemonade spritzer? Or something with pink champagne? I kind of want to avoid the wines/champagnes for hangover sakes lol. Not sure on the name but blushing bride is cute, but may be over done?

Tell me your thoughts and any drink signs you have/ where you bought them from or what you are doing!

I wouldn’t do a Long Island, you’ll have too many drunk people. Lol. I’m thinking of doing a malilbu bay breeze

We’re doing Jack and coke, Moscow mules, and a lemonade prosecco punch. I wouldn’t do a Long Island at my wedding but you guys know your guests best!

Maybe! I will ask the venue if he still wants that. We liked the taste of them but I don’t need people drunk off their butts before we even make our grand entrance lol

I agree that maybe you could just ask the bartender to tone down the alcohol in the Long Island if that’s what he really wants. We’re not doing a signature drink, but instead doing a mimosa bar since he proposed while we were having brunch with my family where they give you complimentary mimosas (which truthfully is why we go lol).

Is there a reason you’re doing a signature drink? The point of a signature drink is to have something poured and ready to serve so the bar doesn’t get overwhelmed as soon as it’s opened. Usually, it’s a drink that isn’t regularly ordered. There’s no point in making a margarita or a jack and coke a signature drink. I didn’t think anyone even drank along Island ice teas anymore. Not a good choice for a signature drink.

You could do 'something blue' with blue curaçao. I like it with peach schnapps and sprite

We wanted it for the sake of “ideas” for people who
go up to a bar and might not know what
they want right away, and so people could try something new or different. Like a “prickly pear
margarita” which is popular where I live but not where we are getting married, and it’s unique.

I was just thinking of having a sign with our two favorite drinks as our signature drinks. I like everything, so I was just looking for ideas.

We’re doing Jack & Coke as my fiancé’s and I’m doing a Sweet Tea and Vodka! As far as an open bar we’re just doing beer and wine so we though two signature drinks would mix things up a bit and give our guests a little more of an option!

If you want to do a Long Island as a signature drink go for it!

If she wants to do a Long Island as a signature drink let her do it! I don’t get why you had to throw in “nobody ever drinks them anymore.” I actually had one the other night while out with some friends.

ive been to many weddings where they’ve served jack and coke or different margs as “signature drink”. You’re comment was pretty cold and rude.

We are doing an open bar, but wanted to include a signature drink to show people what we like/give suggestions to others. But if someone wanted something not “on the menu” that’s totally fine. I’m worried people might not realize it’s an open bar if there’s a menu.

maybe at the top it could say “it’s an open bar, orser whatever you like, but here are some of our favorites:
    something old- old fashioned
    something new- (unique drink)
something borrowed- (borrowed from a family recipe)
    somerhing blue- (something blue lol)

I love this idea something old, new, borrowed & blue that goes with the wedding completely! Some people will do it tho as each the bride & grooms favorite drink in case someone wants to bring you guys a drink! If you are serving long islands (which i love & still drink) i would just ask the bartender to maybe put more sour mix in it or add some sprite to it to tone it down a bit!

Maybe its an open bar so order whatever you like or maybe these drinks will taste just right.
Then the something old, new, borrowed, blue.

The first one you wrote just didnt flow. I was just write something catchy on it if you go that route!

It could be an Ashley-rita. Lol. Maybe pink salt on the rim? Strawberry margaritas can be pink-ish too.

Strawberry margaritas are a great pink option! We’re doing “His, Hers, and Ours” signature drinks.
    His: Rye old fashioned
Hers: Champagne, vanilla vodka, pineapple juice
Ours: Extra dry, extra dirty gin martini

We’re not concerned about people ordering too many martinis. Anyone who’s going to order back-to-back martinis would likely do it whether or not we have it as one of our signature drinks. Smiley winking
And, the “point” of signature drinks today is to add a fun and personal touch to the reception bar. I’ve never seen a pre-mixed signature drink (besides sangria) at a wedding, they were always mixed on the spot. Long Islands, jack & cokes, and margaritas are all great options!

    Mimosas and bloody Mary bar

Long islands are super strong. I would definitely be a little nervous.
