So I guess this post is an update from my last one. My fiances father has stage IV cancer that is rapidly progressing and has a very poor prognosis. The last time I spoke to his doctors they said we would be lucky if he makes it to the end of the month. My fiance is such a strong and compassionate man and refuses to change the date of our wedding, so that is out of the question. We want to do something for him so he can still be a part of us getting married, but we don't know what to do.
I had a few ideas:
-Try on my dress so he can see it and we can take pictures (but groom doesn't want to see my dress)
-Have a super small ceremony at the house (but the only day we could do that with everyones work schedules would be tonight, in like 6 hours, lord help me)
-Sit down with him and tell him all about our story (he has Alzheimer and doesn't remember much of when we were young)
-Have a small document written up saying how we love him so much and we want him to witness our marriage although he can't be with us that day at least he can witness us sharing our love for eachother today. (this would give my finace something to keep and remember )
Now my doubts.
Cancer is a b**** and it sends mine and his whole familys head into a whirlwind. His sisters thinkn doing something is great idea but we all agree that at this point energy = time. So anything that requires his energy is less time we may have with him. I'm scared if this is what hes holding onto, he might just let go. Hes been excited about this wedding since we started planning 6 months ago. I'm trying to think from his perspective and what he would want but I honestly don't know.
My fiance and I don't know what to do, but were being pressured by his siblings to do it tonight. There is nothing I can find on the internet for anything like this.
Any and all advise is welcome.
