Shuttle to and from venue

NatHam, on February 23, 2017 at 2:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

How many of you have used a shuttle at a previous wedding to get to and from a venue? Or how did you let your guests know if you are having one at your wedding? I am putting information on my detail card and have a wedding website (but I know not everyone will do that). The venue is around 20 minutes to the closest hotels and I want to make sure that majority of guests are using it. The area is new to all the guests (since we picked a venue between my hometown and FH hometown). My hotel recommended having information available when they check in.

We've got a shuttle to take guests to and from the hotel. We mentioned it on our website and we'll put it on the invite card with accommodations. Our shuttle was free from the hotel though. Are you paying extra for it?

We put the info on the accommodations card and on our website, but we also put it on the RSVP card for a headcount to make sure we have enough seats. If necessary, we'll hire an additional shuttle.

@Akcouple, yes we are paying extra for it. I wouldn't care so much if I didn't have to pay such a hefty bill. And the other thing that I am stressing to guests is that when entering the address in a GPS if you use the actual city the venue is located in "Hillsdale" it will not bring you to the right location. You actually need to use the location "dallas" for some odd reason. Some people don't read... so I'm afraid I will have a lot of lost guests

@Emma, that is a good idea. Include it on the RSVP so its a final reminder!

I'm also figuring out shuttle options to and from the venue and hotel. @AKCouple, did you have to negotiate a free shuttle with booking rooms? I'm interested to know how I may cut that cost, so any input would be appreciated. Smiley smile

    First post, yay!

I did just what you did, put it on our website and on the "details" card that we included with the invitation. Our hotel is going to give our guests specific information at check in.

My hotel block gave me info cards to put in the invites...I wrote on that card that there is a shuttle provided.

I'm having one. Where I live it's kind of expected actually, and as a guest I always appreciate it so there's no worry of anyone drinking and driving, or not being able to drink so they can drive.

I spread the info through word of mouth, added it to the invitation enclosure card, and it is on our wedding website as well.

We didn't negotiate it, we asked the hotel and they said they provide one to stop over every 10 minutes (granted its a 2 minute drive). Maybe it's because there are a lot of wedding venues in the area we're getting married in and hotels compete for room blocks.

Adding it onto the RSVP is a great idea!

Awesome, thanks guys. I am a worry wart and feel more comfortable with people taking the shuttle then getting lost or drinking and driving. I think word of mouth is great too. I told my mom/stepdad and FMIL to spread the world, since I know some people "forget" to read invites or forget.

@Nicole, in my area it is actually pretty rare to see shuttle services. I have been to 7 weddings last summer and not one had a shuttle, so that left either me and FH not drinking!

We put our shuttle schedule on the wedding website, and on a card in the welcome bags for our guests. In our social circle there are always guest shuttles at weddings, so we knew our guests would be expecting it / looking for the information. We also noted which hotels would have shuttle service on our accommodations page on the website so our friends could figure that in when planning!

We went to a wedding in Hilton Head and the transportation and events details were printed on a welcome flyer and placed in our welcome bags

    Following too

Great suggestion @OGC I'm going to check with my hotel since all my OOT guests are staying at the same one. Free sounds fun!

We're doing online RSVPs, and added a question to get a headcount for the shuttle. Good thing we did, we actually had to add another vehicle because we got over 50 yesses (capacity of our coach bus). Our total number invited is like 140 and a lot are local, so we were surprised about how many plan to use it. All of these guests also booked a hotel room through our block, so I'm fairly certain it will be used.
